Why the **** is Kamran Akmal still playing in the Pak XI?

While Kamran dropped the catch, i am sure he didn't give 100 runs in last 5 overs. Not to forget the complete failure of entire Pakistan batting.

No, this is all on Akmal.
It is really demoralizing when fielding and someone continually drops sitters.

Makes you feel for Kaneira, at least the man had the heart to continue bowling. In the last 5 years of my sporadic watching of Pakistan cricket, I have seen Akmal screw up 15-20 dismissals off only Kaneira.

You may not be able to control when the batsmen nicks behind, but you can sure as hell spot fix that the keeper is definitely going to drop his first catch.
Except that is not the sort of bet that is on offer - will the keeper take his first chance - for starters, who defines what a catch is?

On Cricinfo :-

Shridhar Jaju: "Kamran Akmal's favourite pickup line - Can I DROP you somewhere?

Farhan: "Kamran's favorite song: "Drop it like it's hot"."

Damn right. I can only imagine how the bowlers can still bowl their heart out seeing the ****er Khatmal drop chances continuously behind the stumps.

Ridiculously there is people on Pak Passion who still believe Akmal should be in the side as he is such a "great" batsman. Akmal senior averages under 30 with the bat in ODIs and in WC games under 25 with a very poor SR. He is an average batsman and a joke of a cricketer. Shame as he played one if not the best innings of the previous decade that he will be remembered for being a clown.

He's consistently been a negative for his side and it's not like he's hitting a ****load of runs.

Discuss.
He's overstayed his welcome.I think it's all got to do with his batting since everyone knows he can't keep wickets for ****.He is a flat track bully, and Afridi and Waqar have probably hoped that he will fire soon, but that has not happened so far.The match against NZ has to be the last straw.

To answer the topic,

I think both Akmals are a waste of time for Pak. They juz come across as arrogant, self centred dicks, tbh.. And not as good as they seem to think of themselves.

Pak would do much better trying out and giving game time for the likes of Azhar Ali..
Not both.Umar Akmal is a very talented player, and even though he does have that vibe of arrogance about him,you can see that he does play his heart out with the effort he puts in the field.Kamran on the other hand, always looks demoralized, and when he pulls off his regular blunders,he gets even more demoralized.

Apparently, Shahid Afridi and Waqar Younis have hinted that Umar Akmal will open in the next match. If that is the case, one thing is for sure : someone is going to get the sack. Will it be Mohammad Hafeez ? Will it be Ahmed Shehzad ? Will it be Kamran Akmal ? We'll know in five days time.
It will probably be Ahmed Shahzad.4 matches, and he has hardly looked convincing.

Waqar's comments on whether Kamran will be dropped or not is completley appropriate, regardless of wether Kamran actually gets the boot or not.You can't just come out after a defeat, and announce that the player who potentially cost you the match won't play the next match. It reeks of naiveness, and surely Waqar has played enough cricket, and knows enough to know what to say and when to say it.

I've heard Asad Shafique can keep.So can Umar.I even remember Younis keeping a while back. The logical choice would be to get in Asad as the keeper since Younis and Umar are amongst our best outfielders.

The trouble here is that amongst Kamran,Umar and Younis, the first one is in the worst batting form currently. He's a piss poor keeper, but i think he's a good batsman so i won't go as far to call him a pathetic batsman since he's not one.But like i've mentioned,he's not in great form. You can't drop Younis since he's a part of your batting backbone with Misbah, and you can't drop Umar since he's in good batting form, and is one of our best fielders. What it boils down to IMO,is the Asad Shafique/Kamran Akmal comparison.Asad has only started his career,he seems to have the potential, but is he a better batsman than Kamran?Let's assume that he is not a better batsman than Kamran, and won't do **** with the bat in this tournament, but then again, will he miss 2-3 crucial sitters behind the stump every game?He probably won't.So you'll be dropping a potentially better batsman, for a potentially better keeper.Which is fine IMO.When you fail as a batsman, you don't bring down time morale the way a keeper brings it down with atrocious stuff behind the stumps.

The only issue i have is,that if the team drops Kamran and puts in someone else to replace him,and if he makes blunders (which won't be surprising since they aren't specialist keepers),the team will get slack again for the knee jerk reaction of dropping Kamran.

But anyway, let's see. It's easy for us cricket followers to discuss things, but it's a 100 times more difficult for the players/coaches/captains to make a decision of such importance in the middle of the World Cup.Whatever decision is made, regardless of whether it's dropping Kamran the douche or sticking with the douche,i'll support the Captain and Coach.

Yes i'm an optimist.

That's what ****s me. His knock vs. India in 2006 (assume you're referring to that one) in the third test after Pakistan collapsed following Irfan's hat-trick was unbelievable.

WAC. Would at least prefer if someone good from Pakistan did that to us.

tbf 2004-2007 he was genuine world class probably started spot fixing by then.

I don't think Kamran ever needed Spot-fixing to be so bad.His keeping is as bad as it gets. The only level lower than this is taking your pants off after dropping a catch and asking the batsman you let go to spank your butt.

When he came to Australia for the first time (2005/06?), I thought he was actually a pretty decent keeper. Geez, I wouldn't give him the gloves for Camberwell now.

This is where you are wrong. He WILL drop catches again b/c he is a **** wk. I bet you were saying the same thing after the Sydney test. Has he improved. I don't think so.

Salman you are a nice guy but I don't think that you are an optimist, You are a ******.
