You think Jasprit Bumrah, what 25-30 tests in, is a better bowler than Dale Steyn? Or are you saying he's performed better here?
Both Bumrah and styen Played same nom of test in Australia but bumrah average is better than styen .

Bumrah. And this is inspite of Bumrah having possibly the worst fielders ever (barring Jadeja) miss many of his wicket creating opportunities.

eh...I think the catching's been mostly reliable since Bumrah's advent (other than a couple of gaffes in Adelaide on the last tour)

In Australia he is. Unlike Steyn, you can usually rely on Bumrah on keeping things tight even when he's off-color and creating opportunities for guys bowling at the other end.
Imo if anything, this is what was just a tad disappointing about Bumrah's effort in the latest series in Australia even though he was really good. He's bowled the short hard to hit length but not blasted lineups away like he used to since his return from injury for the most part.

Could go either bumrah or Steyn, but steyn bowled two series clinching spells against much better lineups so I might just lean him. Close one though.

^Think he regained a bit of his zip as well his old confidence in the fuller lengths on the England tour. Could bowl way worse than he did at the Oval for instance and come away with a bag on a different day. Hopefully that's in SA.

Yeah, Oval was one of best 2 wicket spell you'd ever see.

It's definitely close between Bumrah and Steyn, but Steyn because he bowled to a better batting lineup (slightly). Also worth remembering that Ponting in 2008 was downhill and was out by the second time SA won so that 2008 lineup probably looks stronger on paper than it actually was.

Bumrah did face Smith in one of the series right?

Yes, although it was Ashwin who got his number in that series. Laby Baby played both series though - rest of the batting was generally dog**** - still it's Australia in Australia.

Bumrah dismissed Smith in MCG test I think in one of the inns.. Bowled around his legs.
