The 90s and 00s banlisted draft thread

BoyBrumby

Englishman
Remember that for the two banlist rounds YOU MAY ONLY PICK A PLAYER FROM THE BANLIST THAT IS APPROPRIATE - round 10 you may only pick someone from the 90s banlist and in round 11 you may only pick someone from the 00s banlist.
Ah, fudge. I assumed they were all fair game for both rounds. :-O

Suspect I've miscalculated wildly now.

In round 10 players may only pick someone from the 90s team.
In round 11 players may only pick someone from the 00s team.
From my original post.

You may be right Brumby, you may have miscalculated. We won't know until we see the picks.

Ouch - which way to go?

Think I'll have to take Warne but very tricky to work out if that's the best way!

Akram. Easy. Would have been torn if the choice was Warne or Donald.
Really surprised you went with a 5th bowler actually.

I suppose with Flower at 6 and Flintoff at 7 it's not a huge problem, but I would have thought you'd pick up Waugh who could bowl a bit if necessary but would strengthen your batting a lot.

Each to his/her own I guess. This is what makes a draft fun :)

If Metallics picks Donald then all 4 bowlers have been picked first :O. Given the quality of the 90s bowlers though I guess it's not too surprising.

The pace attack needs a leader. Flintoff, Streak, Fleming is a good attack, but just lacking that absolute spearhead. Akram delivers that in spades. Got guys who can swing it both ways (Wasim and Fleming), reverse swing masters (Wasim again, Flintoff), big hearted guys who'll run in all day (Flintoff, Streak), a leftie (Wasim), and a tall bowler who gets steep bounce (Flintoff again). Rounded out with an attacking leg spinner who gives the ball a real rip in MacGill.

With Flower at 6, Flintoff at 7 and Streak and Wasim in the next two slots (not sure who'd bat 8 of those two), I have excellent lower order batting down to 9. Fleming was no bunny either, normally batted at 9 behind Warne.

Yeah I agree completely with Matt, Wasim makes his side look so much more classy. I'm pretty sure he'll get a batsman in round 11 too.

I'm not saying it was a bad choice, only interesting. It only really works because Flower is a good enough batsman to make it work.

Which is why I took him with the first pick of the draft, and Flintoff with my second round pick. ;)

Agree though - not a fan of five bowlers unless one of them or the keeper is genuinely good enough to be a top six batsman.

There really are no bad outcomes in this or the next round, aside from
possibly a team balance perspective.

That's true for all but possibly one or two of the 90s picks. Even then you're picking greats instead of Greats.
