Test runs draft -Team XI's total sum of test runs must not exceed 30k(negotiable AF)

AndrewB

International Vice-Captain
Tony Greig.

Final XI:
Sunil Gavaskar
Victor Trumper
Ranjitsinhji
Keith Miller (4)
Stanley Jackson* (7)
Tony Greig (6)
Alan Knott+
Jack Gregory (3)
Johnny Wardle (5)
Colin Croft (1)
Sydney Barnes (2)

3 ATG batsmen to start, followed by pretty solid batting down to 8 (and Wardle could hit a few). Since he's not having to open the bowling, Miller can concentrate on batting, his original strength.

3 very fast bowlers in Croft, Miller and Gregory who can be used in short spells since there's Barnes (fast-medium leg-breaks) and Wardle (slow left-arm orthodox/chinaman), plus Greig and Jackson to chip in if needed.

30000-1098-460-7358-4455-4518-785-5200-1906-2506-603-818=293

batting down to 10, arguably 11. spinners turning it both ways and they're both legspinners. and look at that middle order, i'm in a position where if the bowlers don't do their job my middle order could bat out a draw all by itself. bowling depth out the wazoo too, with everything from tall pacers to accurate pacers to the x-factors of grace and botham - and that's what this team is built on - x factor. my six through to nine can take away a game with the bat and ball, and that's not to mention that three of my top five average above 50, with misbah at like 49

Cricket Web: All-Time Legend
Bob Willis as my last pick, leaving with me around 400 runs left over

My final team

Bill Woodfull *
Saeed Anwar
Joe Root
Dudley Nourse
Javed Miandad
Imran Khan (2)
Don Tallon +
Alan Davidson (1)
Hedley Verity (5)
Alec Bedser (4)
Bob Willis (3)

5 terrific bowlers who need no fancy face-saving write-ups

My batsmen have all proven themselves at test level except for Don Tallon, who was definitely my cheapie. But he was obviously a great keeper and certainly could bat okay at FC level.

We bat pretty damn deep as even Verity and Bedser could bat and obviously Alan Davidson was a fine AR to complement Imran

Not too shabby if i do say so myself. Not too much fire power in the bowling dept. but all of the bowlers were world class and proved themselves all over the globe. Batting pretty much down to 9.
