The Sharks really struggled to adapt to the new law interpretations which was their major downfall on the weekend against the Chiefs. I wouldn't read too much into their lack of tries as the match was played in appalling conditions, so in more favourable weather and with another week to adapt to the laws I'd say they'll perform better.
Still don't have real line-breakers though, need JP Pietersen to repeat his form from last year. And Ruan Pienaar is back to fly-half which means all their offseason acquisitions have been rather pointless (though nobody could know Hernández was going to be injured)

18 tries in the Lions Chiefs game! WTF? Caught the fag end of the game but still saw four tries in seven minutes. Basketball rugby at its finest.

Andy Goode (), the Sharks new signing () is going to be in for a surprise going by how kamikaze the sides seem to be this season.

Appalling tackling and some brilliant offloads and an incredibly attacking approach to running almost everything. If Martin Johnson had seen that he'd have had an aneurysm.

Incredibly, the Reds actually won. Bet no-one saw that coming. As a QLD'er who is well acquainted with their ineptitude, I sure didn't.

Was at the game, was sen****ingsational stuff.

EDIT: bonus points surely for being the only one to pick the reds upset...

Interesting weekend of rugby to say the least, who'd have thought that the Reds would win so comprehensively against the Crusaders, that the Lions and Chiefs would play a game of sevens for 80 minutes, that the Cheetahs would beat the Sharks and record their first away win since 2007, and that the Highlanders would manage to lose within seven points - actually, that last one was odds on IMO. ;) At least the Hurricanes, Bulls and Stormers restored some normality to the weekend with solid home victories.

One try in 240 minutes of rugby for the Sharks this season - not exactly the ideal formula for success and they were no match for the Crusaders tonight (watched the game on replay following the cricket). Quite frankly they didn't look like scoring a five-pointer for the entire match, let alone giving the impression that they could win the match. To overcome their problems at flyhalf they've got Andy Goode on loan - he received a yellow card within 10 minutes of coming on for a high tackle. Given they have a front row of Springbox forwards their scrum continues to be dominated and TBH its difficult to see how the Sharks are going to win any of their matches on their away tour.

Love Goodey, but he's a safe pair of hands (or rather safe right boot) at best, really. V much a Andrew/Wilkinson English kicking fly-half. Only USPs are his obvious weight problem and even more obvious eyebrows.
