It’s a shame that Permaul didn’t even got to bowl a single over...well he gets the chance in the second innings.

No Rubel? Have they finally realized he can't get his average any higher?
Was very disappointed he took enough wickets in his last match to get it below Salisbury's. Even when you consider BD's non-existent test pace stocks it was insane he kept being picked.

I'd be more worried about the fact Warrican's apparently ahead of Permaul.

I don't see what WI sees in Warrican, he's the type who'll pick up a tidy three for but I doubt he'll ever run through an international side except on a minefield.

He is the most obvious example of cronyism. He is ahead of Permaul because he is from Barbados. He has played youth cricket and senior cricket with Jason Holder and is a member of the same cricket club and friends with the stand in captain, Kraigg Braithwaite.

Permaul brings so much more to the table and consistently out bowls Warrican in FC cricket. I hope he gets lots of wickets in the second innings and forces his way in.

What do we think the starting XIs are gonna be for the first test?

Reckon BD go with:

Tamim | Shadman | Najmul | Mominul (*) | Mushy | Shakib | Liton (+) | Mehidy | Taijul | Mustafizur | Taskin/Ebadot/Hasan

2 quicks, 3 spinners, batting seems solid. Najmul might be left out for Mithun, or Shadman for Saif, if they feel a top 4 full of lefties is too much. Not sure who the 2nd quick will be - options aren't particularly great. Hope Taskin is back near to his best.

Wonder if Mahmadullah will ever get another crack at Test cricket. Seems like they've pigeonholed him as a limited overs specialist. Mossadek too, which sucks cuz he averages like 60 in FC with the bat.

Why is mossadek not given more chances? Crazy fc average and stats alone make it seem like he did well in his 3 tests.

Initially I thought they felt the middle order was too crowded with Shakib/Mushy/Mahmudullah to give him a run, but now they've dropped Mominul to 4 and given him captaincy, which means the only way Moses fits in is either the Top 3 or at 7/8, neither of which suit him

Don't know why Mominul was bumped down from 3, he was doing alright there.

The word is that BD practiced with this line up:
1)Tamim
2) Nazmul
3) Mushfiq yup he came in to bat 3
4) Mithun
5) Mominul
6) Liton WK

It’s not a bad line up if we replace Mithun with Shakib who could not practice due to injury (now he’s fit). Mominul can come up at 4 and Shakib at 5 because he will have to do few spells too. As we have New Zealand tour next, I’m up for playing three pacers even if its a slight spinning track.
I think Abu Jayed will be a important player in NZ in those conditions as hes the one who can swing few so would like to see him playing the tests here. It will be great if we can play Fizz, Hasan Mahmud and Abu Jayed together. In between Nayeem and Miraz I would pick Nayeem. Since Mithun is one of Domingo’s favs, he’s likely to keep his place.

My XI:

1) Tamim
2) Nazmul
3) Mushfiq
4) Mominul
5) Shakib
6) Mithun (:confused1
7) Liton +
8) Nayeem
9) Abu Jayed
10) Hasan Mahmud
11) Fizz

Why Nayeem over Miraz?

Didn't notice Jayed was in the squad. Yea good shout, he'd be handy in NZ.

If they have space for Mithun in the XI they have space for Moses ffs.

I think Miraz lost his mojo after England and Australia home series. Concentrated more on limited format glory and unable to balance now in longer format. The second ODI against WI gave some of his old vibes so hopefully he’ll be able to come back.

I'd reckon the Windies will go
Brathwaite/Campbell/Moseley/Bonner/Blackwood/Da Silva/Mayers/Cornwall/Warrican/Roach/Gabriel

Any idea if this will be streamed in the UK?

It's on Sports Flick for £8 per month, but no tv broadcaster is covering it as far as I can tell.

I think your team is spot on, that's my guess also. There's a slight chance they will play Reifer ahead of Mayers to fulfill the same roll, but it depends if they want a batting all rounder or a bowling all rounder.

Mayers is a better batsman than Reifer who has test experience. It’s a toss up between the two of them
Even the Bangladesh coach says that Chattogram is a spinners paradise and that although they want to give their young seamers some exposure, it's just not pragmatic in conditions that don't suit them. So don't completely rule out Hodge playing the Roston Chase role instead of Mayers or Reifer.

Therefore it could be:

Kraigg
Campbell
Mosely
Bonner
Blackwood
Hodge
Da Silva (wk)
Cornwall
Warrican
Roach
Gabriel

Basically, I think that number 6 or 7 all rounder slot between Reifer, Mayers and Hodge is the only one in doubt. Personally, I would play Permaul over Warrican any day but I don't think they will.

We're on the verge of making some history:

" West Indies lost their last two Tests by innings defeats; the last time they suffered three innings defeats in a row was in 1931. "

Thanks! £5.99 a test which to me is pretty reasonable. Horribly early start in the UK but so looking forward to regular test match cricket back in the schedule

I'm planning on getting up for the second session onwards so I can watch a good amount of cricket but still survive a day of zoom calls at work
