Afghanistan don't have good domestic structure in Afghanistan. They don't have first class tournaments to develop future talents, so they use age teams to groom talent.
Even if some of the Afghan players are a bit older then their real age it's still a bloody good tournament for us - as all full nations would have a bigger pool to chose from. These U.19 tournament is important to give the talented guys some exposure before they play in senior team.

Shame is though that Pakistan still selects over aged players. At least half their team is over aged. Many of them 2-3 years older then their real age.

16 year old Fisher got England over the line from number 11. More good runs by Duckett showing his experience and why he's played the most important cricket out of the english guys.

Yeah, as mentioned rules are different for associates anyway. Tournaments like this are super important for associates, Afghanistan has more urgent things to spend money on that a domestic cricket circuit

You must be one of those guys that think poor countries shouldn't do scientific research without taking care of their poverty. Its such a silly line of thought. What about the money that the sport could bring into the country years down the line if some basic foundations are laid now? There will be priorities, sure, but no country does only one thing while doing **** all in the other departments. Let them worry about their priorities eh?

AWTA so much. Pisses me off so much when there's an online article about ISRO sending probes to the moon and such and the comments section is filled with myopic self righteous pricks who decry the 'wasteful diversion of resources' and 'misplaced priorities'.

Proper age testing of players isn't even an issue of spending money on a domestic structure. It's a slippery slope thing. You instill youngsters with the idea that integrity is a loose concept, and you end up down the road with players puzzled why match fixing is frowned upon.

I reckon these 2 must be in the same category as Nasir if you look at profile pics ,surely ?

I don't think its cheating, more just trusting ID documents too much. Not sure how accurate wrist tests really are too ?

Cheers for the congrats. Good bunch with a good attitude it seems. Ray Jennings said the 2012 lot was the best he worked with but they fell short on attitude and disappointingly lost to a less talented Australian team in the semi's.

My names to watch as potential international players down the line:

South Africa: Aiden Markram, Clyde Fortuin, Greg Oldfield, Yaseen Valli, Kagiso Rabada
Pakistan: Sami Aslam, Imam Ul-Haq, Zafar Gohar, Karamat Ali, Zia Ul-Haq
England: Ben Duckett, Will Rhodes, Rob Sayer, Matthew Fisher
Australia: Matthew Short, Jake Doran, Ben McDermott, Billy Stanlake
India: Vijay Zol, Sanju Samson, Sarfaraz Khan, Kuldeep Yadav, Chama Milind
West Indies: Tagenarine Chanderpaul, Nicolas Pooran, Ramaal Lewis, Gudakesh Motie, Ray Jordan
Sri Lanka: Sadeera Samarawickrama, Kusal Mendis, Priyamal Perera
New Zealand: Robert O'Donnell, Brett Randell

With the England new rules of 7 years before a player can become English i gather the Counties will get round it by signing 17 and 18 year olds.Hope the Saffies got all their talent signed, not so sure of OZ contracts not out to July.
