International Captain
Ben Wheeler for NZ U19s? That name rings a bell, do these guys have cricinfo profiles yet or is tha too much to hope for?
They've got them up now, found out the the WK Dane Cleaver is cousins with Kane Williamson, and Logan Van Beek is apparently right-arm fast. Most of the other seamers are either medium or medium fast.

International Vice-Captain
Any of the Windies fans know if our squad has been announced yet? It seems very late in customary WICB style.

Windies Under 19 squad:

Andre Creary (captain), Akeem Dewar, Jermaine Blackwood, John Campbell, Nicholson Gordon [Jamaica], Kraigg Brathwaite, Jason Holder, Shane Dowrich, Jomel Warrican [Barbados], Yannic Cariah, Evin Lewis, Yannick Ottley [Trinidad and Tobago], Trevon Griffiths, Keon Joseph [Guyana] & Nelson Bolan [LI].

Ones to watch:

Kraigg Braithwaite (17) - Most prolific batsman in the history of Barbados youth cricket who is now performing in a similar fashion at club level in Barbados. He made his FC debut in 2009, scoring a patient 73 before being run out which is the only way he looks like getting out sometimes. He is a tall, right handed opening batsman. He was called up to the West Indies scab squad but didn't actually play.

Andre Creary (19) - Compact right handed middle order batsman from Jamaica. He is regarded so highly that he was picked for West Indies A in 2009 before he had even played an FC match. He was involved in the last Under 19 WC and looked very tidy at the crease without making a huge impact. He is the captain of this squad and was also called up to the West Indies scab squad.

Yannic Cariah (17) - A young Trini all rounder who has been identified as a future West Indies cricketer from the age of 12, much like Adrian Barath. He is a left handed middle order batsman and quickish leg spin bowler.

Evin Lewis (17) - An attacking left hand opening batsman from T & T. He has scored a lot of runs at Under 19 domestic level and scored 53 in his only List A match. I have never seen him bat but apparently he hits the ball extremely hard and Chris Gayle was very impressed with him when he saw bat in the Under 19 competition.

Akeem Dewar (18) - A tall leg spinning all rounder who gives the ball a big rip. He dominated the domestic under 19 competition and took 3/25 on his List A debut against Barbados.

Keon Joseph (18) - A right arm fast bowler from Guyana, he was easily the fastest bowler in our Under 19 competition and has been identified as a major pace bowling prospect for some time now.

Jason Holder (18) - 6 feet 7 inches tall bowling all rounder. He bowls right arm medium-fast and is extremely accurate. He made his FC debut for Barbados this year, taking 2/43.

Man that NZ team must be the strongest we have ever had it looks seriously good. Faced Matty Thomas a few overs in one match accurate little left-arm spinner his old man coached my under19 rugby team a few years back too lol. Those Aussie seamers should collect a few wickets i'd say

I've heard quite abit about Holder and Braithwaite. I will have to keep an eye on them if these games are on T.V here.

Any scouting reports you can give would be much appreciated :). I've only seen Braithwaite bat for a short time and have never seen Holder bowl. I saw Creary bat a fair bit when he was just 17 and he looked to have an extremely stylish and solid technique but he would get bogged down too easily. If he has learnt to rotate the strike more effectively he can be just as good as Braithwaite.

Don't know much about those guys outside the ones we've seen in FC cricket but if you're serious then it will be one hell of a team to be better than the last WC side we had. There was one a while ago as well, 99 or 01 I think, where we made the final. Can't remember who the players were, think Franklin, Mills and the Marshalls were involved though.

Hmmm yeah just people like Anderson, Boam and the Bracewell(s) have already had a fair bit of experience in either FC cricket or experience from the previous WC. Looking back yeah your right on paper it doesn't compare to last years team, but if those four players can have good tournaments the we should go alright. The batsmen must be very good though there's one 18 year old who plays for my team who is an exceptional middle batsman and he couldn't even make ND, let alone this team so we shouldn't get knocked over too easily plus Anderson, Boam and Bacewell(D) will all bring FC experience to the bowling attack. Anderson for man of the tournament.
