*Official* South Africa in New Zealand 2022

Probably the only two countries that are still producing decks that are of equal measure for both batting and bowling are Australia and England.
NZ has been the best place to bat so far though in this time period? Statistically they have the best batting average overall if you exclude small sample sizes. There's more to NZ success than just loading up on seam/swing specialists.

I'm not singling you out but this is a trend I've noticed. Are we the new Aus 2015 or SL 00s in the minds of the masses? The batsmen score runs on home roads and the bowlers just dominate on home green decks.

NZ wickets can be weird as hell. Very green D1 but flatten out fast and hard. But yeah, I think it does NZ cricket a disservice to say it like that.

Lehmann-era Australia was different as Oz conditions back then were really unique.

I think it's more along the lines of what Morgieb says in that NZ bowlers do very well early on and then let their batters feast when it's not as good for bowling.

To be frank I don't think you guys make bad/dead pitches, it's just more that the general trend is to help the bowlers more everywhere else and in NZ you've gone the other way a little bit.

He's been excellent today Nicholls. Should've been out yesterday and all but today he's played nearly perfectly. Maybe for future tests we get him to play a game the day before, get the obligatory drops out of the system and then he'll be good to go.
If you mean having less than 6 weeks between innings? I agree.

NZ lose a lot of home tosses, which people seem to forget.

The pitches often look meaner than they are, but there is help for the bowlers on days 1 and 2 if you go hunting for the drive.

I'm obviously biased but Hagley is one of the most fun pitches in the world. Even if its a motorway the pace and bounce keeps batsmen on their toes.

I thought good for fast bowlers day 1 and then good for batting days 2 and 3 was supposed to be the pErFeCt TeSt PiTcH.

Interesting watch. Someone's missing out when Kane returns, and Nicholls has lain down his claim on a spot. Mitchell missed out today. CdG and Blundell playing for their spots.
