I am aware of the knock in question but ODI cricket was a new concept then! Had only just started players didnt play T20 and were not used to the acceleration that we have today
Forget limited overs; it was terrible even by test cricket standards, even in those days. At that rate, he would have batted through a full day of test cricket to score a whopping 45 runs.

Read something the other day that described him as 'the only person ever to play for a draw in an ODI' or something along those lines. Looks like he might have some company though.

:laugh: Yes, difficult to comprehend that 36 not out off 174 balls wasn't enough to knock off 334!!!Must have been let down by the batsmen at other end. It's not too difficult to work out he may have needed the accelerator button during his innings! Maybe the run rate required showing 30 rpo needed would have been an indicator!
