Whatever it takes!!!
Awesome win for us Reds there.. :)

Dinnen and Watt the obvious stand outs but the whole first dig had a lot of decent to solid contributions with the bat from our top 7.. Still think we should be able to bat out for higher scores as our bowling seems the weaker link but chuffed about our first win. Few more straight wins and time for sme rotation.. ;)

Cricketweb Black vs Cricketweb Green
@ Pickford Reserve

Scorecard
Ball by Ball

Cricketweb Green were looking to complete the One Day/First Class double on their travels to Pickford Reserve today, after some poor showings to start the season Green had a number of new faces in the line up including the internationally capped Ben Read who returned from injury, Black coming off the bye were unchanged.

Dan Smith won the toss and put Green into bat on a slightly damp surface, he could have been forgiven at the time for thinking there was a bit in it for his bowlers but infortunately over the course of the next three and a quarter hours his bowlers let him down in a big way. The opening stand between the ever reliable Nick Scott and Andrew Garven was 165, no matter what Smith tried from spinners to quicks to changing ends for his bowlers it took until the re-introduction of seamer Kevin Gough to finally end the stand, Garven was gone for a better than a run a ball 81 as he pressed his claims for a call up to the national one day side. The rest of the innings was the Scott and Read show, the pair put on an unbroken 193 run stand which saw Scott eclipse his highest ever List A score by a run to finish 161 not out. Read showed everyone exactly what the side had been missing as the wicketkeeper batsman toyed with the Black bowlers to smash his way to an unbeaten 90 from just 63 balls. There isn't much nice things to say about the innings from a Blacks perspective, apart from the wicket by Gough only Neil Pickup looked remotely threatening but even then he was worked around for better than five an over, after 50 overs ot was a mammoth total of 358/1 for Green.

If anyone was ever going to chase a total like this down it was Black, the pitch had dried out and conditions were supreme for batting, with a line up saturated with internationals Black would have given themselves a chance at the interval, unfortunately hope didn't last long as their two chances of victory went when Ash Chaulk and James Stedman were dismissed in quick time. Xavier Rose continued his solid form taking a couple of wickets up top to set Green on their way while Ethan McNamara had his best outing of the season also snaring a couple of good ones in Josh Ritchie and Dan Smith. Only middle order batsman Sam Morris looked at home in the middle but his 51 from 61 balls was far from enough to have the home side's fans smiling, all rounder Blake Donald tried hard but his 25 was only brief glimpse of what was required, Chris Raftery claimed both their wickets and also that of Zac Gelman first rock and it was curtains for Black to complete a miserable double header against their less fancied opponents. Black all out for just 145.

Cricketweb Green 358/1 (50)
NG Scott 161*(158), BS Read 90*(63), AJ Garven 81(79), KJ Gough 1/74

Cricketweb Black 145 (29.5)
SC Morris 51(61), CP Raftery 3/3, XPA Rose 2/23

Cricketweb Green won by 213 runs
Man of the Match: NG Scott (CW Green)

Cricketweb Blue vs Cricketweb Red
@ PDV Dome

Scorecard
Ball by Ball

Traditional rivals Blue were taking on Red in the second leg of their double header this week, Blue were hoping for a better result than that in the four day clash while Red were trying to win their first one day match of the season, there was a bit in the deck after some recent rain in the area but that didn't discourage Red captain Kingsley Clapham from choosing to bat first.

Blue got just the start they wanted when the ever reliable Liam Camps had Swaranjeet Singh edging a ball to Alex Crampton behind the stumps for just 1, next in was the horribly out of touch Rob Dauth who is scrambling to keep his name in front of national selectors and if todays effort is anything to go by that wont be a problem for him. His 201 run partnership with former Cricketweb 'A' batsman Matt Luff was something to behold, the pair nudged and noodled and then smashed their way into the record books with a sublime performance, Dauth was perhaps a little unlucky to be run out when Angelo Loganathan's shy at the stumps just caught the top of the bail however his 96 runs were just what the doctor ordered. For Luff is was a sixth List A ton, his 101 runs came off 115 balls and included three boundaries and two sixes. If the travelling Red fans thought they'd seen some excitement the best was yet to come, when Mitch Rapp and Callum Dinnen joined each other at the crease with little over ten overs to go the score was 227/3. The two hen decided with wickets in hand that they had little to lose and just went for it, after 64 exhilerating deliveries the partnership was an unbroken 128 with Rapp in particular being brutal to anything bowled to him finished 70 not out from 33 balls, Dinnen's 34 ball 55 cant be over looked either. Camps and Loganthan were the wicket takers to go with Loganathan's run out as Red finished 355/3 from their 50 overs.

The chase from Blue was always going to be hard work, they did however have a top order in form and coming off a good win the self belief was there, Liam Camps and Sean Fuller again looked sold as they put on 96 for the first wicket before Fuller went for 48, in from Angelo Loganathan could only contribute 18 as he became the first of Ed Ames' four victims of the innings. Blue did manage to put together a number of other meaningul partnerships throughout the innings but they just kept losing wickets at the wrong time and their charge was continually halted, Camps' 74 was most impressive but young all rounder Michael Cannon put up a good fight in his run a ball 38 and certainly looks one for the future, Ed Ames was chief destroyer in the middle of the innings and his 4/38 in just his second career game proves he has an exciting future ahead, wickets also to Clapham and Marc Robbins Jnr came as a relief to the captain who was happy to see Blue rolled for 290 in the 48th over.

Cricketweb Red 355/3 (50)
MD Luff 101(115), RJ Dauth 96(106), M Rapp 70*(33), CJ Dinnen 55*(34), AM Loganathan 1/45

Cricketweb Blue 290 (47.3)
LA Camps 74(82), SE Fuller 48(47), E Ames 4/38, MJ Robbins Jnr 2/45

Cricketweb Red won by 65 runs
Man of the Match: M Rapp (CW Red)
