The funniest part of that dropped catch was when he stood up and did a full 360-degree turn looking for the ball.

......and the Sammy still has done nothing???
You don't replace your captain halfway through a tournament. Sammy's ineffectiveness as a captain was evident before the World Cup, but the selectors went brave anyway. His brand of (non-playing) captaincy can sort of get by in Tests, but in ODIs it's woefully outstanding.

Indeed.

In all fairness to Sammy though, he did win the toss.

Agree, poor shot. Gul bowled great overall, but that particular shot was a poor piece of batting.
missing the point. Gayle plays plenty of those shots in ODIs. You have to bowl differently to him compared to Smith. He gave him no room knowing Gayle would do what he did. Result is a wicket.

Not every smart piece of bowling involves a jaffer. It often is just reading the batsman well.

Except he did bowl the same way to Smith...

I'm thinking he was bowling straight to keep things tight and give himself a chance. Not to try to get Gayle to pick out midoff.
