Wow, loads of new names. Younis Khan gone too. Dropping Kamran Akmal I find it hard to argue with, though I'm surprised Adnan doesn't even make the reserves. After all, he is the current Test keeper.

Razzaq and Younis I will miss more but they weren't justifying their places, so if they were to be dropped it'd be now. Razzaq wasn't bowling well enough to hold onto a place at #8, so if he doesn't feature in plans to move up the order it makes sense for him to go.

What happened to Umar Gul? Is he injured or rested?

Can only assume the Pakistani posters are too busy celebrating to comment on Kamran Akmal's axing.

Gul and Younis Khan rested according to cricinfo. Afridi's request to be rested denied then?

decent squad, see this as an end of Razzaq and Younis odi career Gul had asked to be rested for odi's biggest positive no kakmal though I wanted Sarfraz instead of Salman.

i haven't seen anything of Toffee in limited overs cricket. Do Pakistan fans think he should start? And whatever happened to Fawad Alam?

I've always liked Taufeeq Umar.Went through a horrible run of form though, and then got axed. He's a good player so i think he does deserve a second chance.

The name i'm really excited about is Aizaz Cheema.I used to play street cricket with him and called him "Umair Bhai".Fast as ****.I think he would clock around 85/86 comfortably.I heard that during our victorious T20 campaign, the eventual choice boiled down between him and Amir, and the latter got the nod because of his age.Aizaz is alrready above 30,and yes, that's his real age :D.Very exicted to see him in the squad.Hopefully he gets a game or two.

Afridi's a huge Fawad Alam fan,so i can only imagine that the selectors didn't like him since Afridi would have wanted him.Might get a chance in the Test Squad perhaps.

Excited about Cheema, Salahuddin and Azam. I have heard a lot about them. Apparently Cheema bowls in the 90's, which is incredible for his age.

WI T20 squad: Sammy (C), Barnwell, Bishoo, Darren Bravo, Fletcher, Hyatt, Ashley Nurse, Rampaul, Roach, Russell, Samuels, Santokie, Simmons.

Samuels is back. Sammy stays on as captain, shocker. No Gayle, Sarwan, Chanderpaul or Pollard - I should think they'll struggle.

Gayle, Pollard and Bravo not selected because they did not play the local T20 competition.

Looks like WI have decided to experiment and give the young chaps a chance against the minnows. Good planning.

Really? Such a strange rule.
Yep. Too much politics going on there to explain in a single post. These folks went to the Big Bash when the local T20 was on and hence the non-selection. Also Gibson is not so excited about these senior players. So Maybe they are doing a rebuilding process. But What this has done is WI cricket is still slipping deeper in to the mire.

Personally, I like this approach by Gibson....

These 20/20 internationals are not particularly important. So, it's a good opportunity to try out some youngsters, especially 20/20 specialists such as Barnwell, Santokie, Nurse and Hyatt. Players like Hyatt have played at all levels, but his best success is in the shortest format of the game.

I also agree that any player who wants to represent the region at a certain level needs to play the domestic competition to become eligible. Only WI duties should take priority. If they choose Aussie Big Bash cricket over the domestic competition, then they shouldn't be surprised if they're left out of matches like this....

I also think players like Shiv and Sarwan should concentrate on the longer formats of the game.
