Why in the world would you send out your bowlers in this situation? You have enough bloody runs.
Someone on commentary (Doull?) mentioned that batting longer means the effect of the morning roller is reduced, so bounce is more variable when the Kiwis get to bat.

this feels far more normal than this weird "openers scoring semi-reasonable runs" thing that's been happening a bit since 2013.

A study in different techniques there. KW got the exact same delivery two balls ago, played it late with soft hands and edged it down to third slip on the bounce. Guptill squirts his bat at it and the edge flies to first slip.

How weird that Sky did a test world XI a few weeks ago and picked Morne ****ing Morkel over Dale Steyn.
