In the last three years we've had Rutherford, Fulton, Santner, Nicholls, Redmond, Anderson and Neesham play in our top six. I don't think we're so good that we can scoff at the idea of someone like Ronchi, with his first-class credentials, as a back-up option.

Trump = Warner - a loud, brash blow-hard, who frequently says and does things that makes him look like a complete ****head, but still finds a way of continually defying the establishments expectations with dazzling bravado and unapologetic dynamism.

Hillary = Cook - a proper candidate that ticks all of the traditional boxes, a stooge for the establishment and almost certainly an old fashioned ****.

This Guptill/Ronchi selection issue shows to me how much of a mistake it was to leave Jeet Raval out of the squad. It would shock me a lot if Ronchi opened the batting when Raval who averaged over 50 last season didn't get a look in. Ronchi is obviously the reserve WK on tour, but I would have found room in the squad for Raval for exactly this reason.

"Preview - Three spinners likely for NZ"
That article is absolutely clueless. Had Bhuvi as India's sole pacer, no Shami in the side.

Had Wagner/Bracewell in NZ's side.

Joke article.

Once again another awful team are about to get absolutely obliterated and whitewashed by the most unhealthy and fetid pitches and Ravi "My own intelligence actually frightens me" Ashwin

Likely squads

NZ: Literally doesn't matter

India: They could get the morons who let Dhanawade destroy any hopes they had of ever being anything of any importance in the world of cricket to play and they'd still win by an innings

I mean, this is atleast comparable to the Cricinfo ones.

But pitches were always going to be more batting friendly this series simply because NZ's batting isn't as capable as South Africa's. It was never going to be a repeat. Raval getting dropped was and is daft. The NZ selectors never grasped that and even now all we've been hearing is how they are going to use their triad of spin bowlers on the upcoming pitches.

Enjoy your whitewashed buildings, dust and the waning of your initial enthusiasm for kebabs, lentil soup and pickled vegetables.
How long were you here for? Tahki 3arabi?

Dunno man, I've already had at least 10 different meals inside 3 days, and I don't eat meat, eggs, dairy or honey so...managing to stay pretty enthusiastic tbh.

LOL

Tbh, all home teams try their best to make advantageous pitches but India's home season is HUGE, much like their string of matches leading up to the humiliation at the hands of England. I guess India will once again be "number one" by the time they tour away against a top team and get hammered again. It just doesn't help the development of some very talented but one dimensional Indian test cricketers.

At this point, not selecting Ronchi over Guppy is just about fear of being ridiculed if it doesn't work out.
Absolutely, but the point remains that, if both play, Guptill should open. I mean, Ronchi is supposedly good against spin, so why would you expose him to the new ball?

Probably NZ selectors left out Raval so that he does not become what Van Zyl became for RSA when they were here.

I don't know what's more bizarre tbh:
a) Protecting a 27 year old who's had 5+ seasons of first class cricket from debuting in the country he's spent most of his life because it might be tough
b) Selecting ahead of him an incumbent who's categorically proven himself a failure at test level
c) Recalling a 35-year old wicket keeper, likely as a specialist bat, based on scores from 10 years ago playing for another country
d) Not recalling your number one spinner on a trip to India...

I mean the Jeetan Patel and Luke Ronchi tales don't really even need a Kippaxian explanation...

Still waiting on the day when CW begins to publish our own Match Previews/Match Reports...
We used to do match reports, previews, general cricket news, etc but we struggled to keep it up in not having enough people willing to volunteer their time.

Hence, we know focus on features :)

How is this still a narrative.

This gen of Indian batsmen, Vijay and Pujara aside, are pretty bad at playing spin. Kohli has a lower home average than away average. Rahane has scored a century in every country he has played in (except 96 in South Africa or something)

Narratives from the 90s/00s no longer apply.
