Kane's just lost all ability to rotate strike, especially early in his innings. He used to be pretty much the best in the world at never facing a dot ball; now, he can't pick up a single anywhere. It's partly teams have set good fields to him, blocking off the run down to third man, but he's also got into the habit of dead-batting a lot, and the placement of his drives when bowlers overpitch has dropped off and he picks out mid on/off constantly.
That last over from Abbott just really summing this up. You shouldn't be bowling a maiden to a set batsman in the 27th over of an ODI but he's picked the fielder out three times, charged and blocked, and missed one off his hip. Touch has deserted him.

Yeah Latham only being kept in the side by the spectre of the next ODI world cup being in India. And I guess NZ needing to work out who his replacement is - Conway or Phillips options, or go for the specialist in Fletcher. But Latham's tendency to only-score-runs-against-weaker-sides seems to be getting worse rather than better.

I know his List A numbers are poor, but I wouldn't mind Blundell as an option if he has a big domestic white ball season.

Of the three games this has definitely been the best balanced Australian combination - Carey at 5 with Maxwell and Green to follow, 3 quicks and Zampa. Questions around the Finch replacement and Marnus for sure though.

Shot Neesham, should trust himself to hit down the ground more.

Unenviable position for Neesham and Phillips though, having to shoulder an 8 RPO chase from now, knowing there’s not much reliable batting from now.

I wouldn't - think Blundell (in form) works well in tests because he's extremely clear on his defense and scoring areas, which rely on the bowler straying. So I'd prefer someone else in odis.
