Not sure who is more excited about this CRUCIAL series - Cricketweb which doesn't even have a thread on the day the series starts, or the captains.

Despite this I think it will be a fun mini-series.

Didn't even know this was happening. You'd think there would be more hype for a NZ Aus series

Any chance Ben Sears plays?

Heard an interview with Devon Conway and he reckons he’s the quickest in New Zealand, and quite possibly the world. Can imagine this New Zealand set up would be the only one in the world that wouldn’t play someone like that in Australia ?‍♂

It's really sad times at the moment isn't it. We all have varying opinions on who should play, who's in form, what the best line-up is. But, we all seem to agree that we don't trust the management to select the best team. That really is a damning indictment on the current management group.

Why are we playing odis in the lead up to t20 WC?

Just jamming them in somewhere to comply with ftp?

This ODI series was supposed to be played about 18 months but cancelled bcos of covid (1st game played with no crowd if I remember). Needs to be played as part of the ODI super league as qualification for the 2023 WC.

We deny proper opportunities to players like sears, clarkson and ajaz like we are loaded with options. Beggers can't be choosers, especially with our derp smaller player pool derrrrp.

We've got 5 specialist seamers. I'd like them to rotate Boult, Henry, and Southee for the 2 with the new ball. Perhaps play 2 matches each.

If Ferguson has regained his control after a poor tour of the Windies I'd like him to play 2 matches and Sears to play one as the first change.
Also hope Mitchell bowls a bit - was disappointed he didn't bowl in the Windies.

Yes iirc they were also rescheduled again at the start of the year as back to back series in aus and nz but both got cancelled/postponed.

It was curious that NZ fielded pretty close to our best XI possible against the West Indies and it looks like will do the same against Oz - usually you see a couple of development spots in JAM series. I guess all the experimental slots are taken up by our new obsession with Michael Bracewell.

But yeah I'd love to see Sears this series.

Aus vs nz is always an interesting affair in cricket, albeit on neutral and aus venues its more predictable. The aussies tend to make a mansion inside the BC's minds and usually take the W. The nitty gritty cowardly batting crap doesn't work and the 130km swing bowling isn't much of a help. They are our ultimate kryptonite. But after a loss to zim for the aussies, I am hoping for a different result this time, with the BC's hitting their stride and taking the series 2-1.

Yeah sadly the psychological aspect when the Black caps take on Australia is diabolical, more often than not it's disintegration at it's worst.
It's been a problem for years on end and can't see it ending anytime soon. It's a bit like the Wallabies when they play the All blacks.
