Aargh. It’s the hope that gets you. Well, maybe Santner has one of his better batting days.

Watching that partnership really makes you wonder how NZ aren’t getting more out of Neesham and Phillips, after all that poking around by Kane, Latham and co was good to see the two of them playing with refreshing intent.

Smith making a good call saying Phillips should be batting 4 in this line up. Neesham could bat a spot or two higher also, he's such a clean striker and technically sound.

abbott is gonna bowl two overs and go for more runs than in all his other overs over the last two games

Fine effort from these two bring the game deep, but have to go for it now. Trickle of singles will suit Australia just fine.

That's out

Poor fielding though. No reason to catch that with fingers pointing down, should have been a standard catch above the shoulders and he wouldn't have been close to the rope.

Clearly had no idea where he was either. Just trotted back completely unecessarily after catching it

Bloody hard catch tbf, with it swirling around in the lights for a million years. Clearly took time to judge the trajectory of the ball.

Easier than the majority of catches

Anyway wasn't a bad catch, but poor decision making. Should never be taking an outfield catch like that, should always be taken above shoulder if possible. And if he did that the rope wouldn't have been an issue

Well played Phillips, made a contest of it. Hopefully Stead and co realise he should be an automatic pick and bat 4.
