**Official** New Zealand in Australia 2015

Brilliant.

My only beef is Craig. It was the right call to play him. You need a specialist spinner. They played Lyon, and we played our specialist: Craig. When we drop Craig we drop him. Until then he is our number 1.
I would dispute the bolded strongly. Spinners get smashed in Australia.

There was this little known guy called michael bevan
Michael Bevan, playing at the time he did, against the opposition he faced, did okay and would've walked into our XI and most others XIs in the world at the time, and the myth that persisted about him not being able to handle the short ball supposedly kept him out of the frame for serious test recalls. All in all, this comparison a bit harsh on Bevan.

A better example would be Nick Knight or Graeme Hick.

Yeah, Vettori in his later years was a world class batting allrounder in tests, and a world class spinner in ODI's.

I don't know much about the details surrounding his career but a guy averaging 55+ in ODIs and FC who couldn't crack an average of 30 in 18 tests doesn't fit the criteria who exactly does?
