Why? From India's perspective, they are in a perfect situation. They will bat as long as they can, addding runs and taking time away. They are fully in control.
yeah.. keep batting for another 10 overs or so if they can at least. Bowl at least 10-15 overs at england. Althou if they keep batting until end of the day... that be perfectly fine imho.....

10 overs? Zaheer just got out, but they should bat for as long as they can. All five days if they still have the wickets....

Why in the world would you possibly declare? It would make no sense.

Weren't you suggesting players to hit out around 1 hour 50 minutes earlier. :p
Yes, because I didn't think they could stick around. They've shown that they can, so that's what they should do. Still play their shots and score 3-4 runs an over, but no need to do a slog fest. Finish the day if at all possible.

India have to declare right now and try to get a result.

This sucks.
Not really. Chances are England will score more than 570 in their two innings (and if they don't it'll be over in 4 days anyway) so any extra runs now are useful apart from helping with the draw they need.

You should not throw test wickets away in such a stiation. You never know how many you might make.

That was definately the greatest series win for india in long time... only a win in Australia could surpass that. If we win this series in Eng.. it'll be great but imho is nowhere close to the series win in Pakistan... anyone suggesting otherwise is just well SS :p

Throw it away? With 400+ on the board, there is nothing wrong with slogging by your lower order, if you don't think you can stick around. At the time, the ball seemed to be doing a little bit.

Slogging is throwing it away in such a scenario. You will make some runs and you will get out. How do you know you might not stick around, particularly on such a wicket? It can happen even with the worst batsmen. Given that you don't have any hurry to declare in the given scenario (like you yourself said), there is no reason not to try and stick around.

RP Singh's got his blood up now, so things get more interesting. He doesn't seem like the type to play each ball on its merit.
