Broad should have been the 5th choice to bowl this morning. Strauss' captaincy has been a joke.
Broad IS quick, tall and young
Unfortunately, in the 6/7 tests I've seen him play, he has hardly moved one ball and doesnt get unexpectedly high bounce - in other words, he does NOTHING with the ball
Whilst I have no doubts that he could develop into a very fine test cricketer, I repeat that I am totally mystified as to why is given so much responsibility with the ball

Broad does seam and swing it (and reverse it) a little sometimes, he's just not really a specialist in any area and as such doesn't do it when conditions aren't very favourable. I don't know whether he'll be a threat to Aussie batsmen this series, but I can tell you that he's improved immeasurably this year and he's certainly not as bad as his record suggests (or indeed as bad as some of the Aussie posters here seem to think).

Only guessing, but my call is it's because he's wary about Fred going snap again (rightly so, for mine) & the spinners chucking down dross. Hobson's choice.
Might be worth giving Bopara a trundle? Haddin would fancy his mediums and could buy a wicket.

Yeah not good to see, I'm already feeling a little saddened by somewhat schoolboy tactics and field placings and now we are doing this. Has not been a good test match for Strauss

Morkel's more of a threat, but less accurate. He makes you shout obscenities at your TV a lot more, but when SA visited England last year Morkel took almost twice as many wickets.

Broad looks like a teenage girl but Morkel's more special needs student, IMHO.

Yeah Strauss not had a good time at all.
