Not sure now much a difference Pogba would have made today. Mourinho would have played the same way just with 1 better player in the team.

I really hoped Mourinho would have the balls to drop him for big games. Just doesn’t really give you anything at all in this type of game. Plus he’s just been in terrible form for months.
Would be an absolutely terrible look to drop a guy you spent £75m on a striker who's a massive dud not trusted to play the big games.

But one of Mourinho’s best qualities is making the right decision without caring how it looks. Ferguson was the same. Contrast with David ‘Rooney was to injured to kick a football but people would ask questions if I took him off’ Moyes.

Might have created more but would have given up more in open play too. Herrera had a decent game.

Darmian has issues but wouldn't have made the hash of defending the lead up to the first goal that Young did.
They need to sign elite full backs, one in Jan and the other in Xmas. Valencia fine defensively but poision going forward while Young the flip side, and neither are exactly that young.

Also wtf wants to hear Noel Gallagher talk about anything? odd that from sky.

Comms here mentioned that before today Lukaku had 5 goals in 39 games vs top 6. Now 40, so 1 in 8.

It would mean admitting that Mourinho had ****ed it up though.

It wouldn’t at all. He’s been a pretty good signing, his goals have won us loads of games already this season. Doesn’t mean he has to play every game.

Aye, United were hammered last season for not beating the supposed smaller sides despite dominating, Lukaku was signed to sort that. He hasn't really done it in big games, but he has still enhanced United due to his flat track bullying. Realistically United are not winning the league until they sign gun full backs and number 10 and are not so reliant on Pogba. Morata would not have solved those issues.

Tbh United aren’t winning the league while City are this good. In another season this squad would have a decent shot.

Imo the problem isn’t that our weakest players are too weak. It’s sort of tempting to want to upgrade the position you’re weakest but Young and Valencia really aren’t costing us many points at all. It’s more that our best attacking players aren’t as good as the best players on our rivals. Best thing that could happen is Martial and/or Rashford breaking into the top tier.

City have been a bit lucky, they're brilliant, but I think their 46/48 points tally flatters them a little bit. They have definitely dipped a bit in recent weeks but keep getting the late goals.

No doubting Guardiola's coaching credentials. You can't make the "he can only do it with Xavi/Iniesta/Messi level players" criticism anymore, he's managed to recreate the same style of play at Bayern and now City with Fernandinho, Delph etc. Sure they may not quite reach that Barcelona 2008-11 level, but you can't get your hands on a set of once in a generation talents in every job you take.

Juve vs Spurs
Basel vs City
Porto vs Liverpool
Sevilla vs United
Real vs PSG
Shakhtar vs Roma
Chelsea vs Barca
Bayern vs Besiktas

Some serious match-ups for the R16. Real PSG could easily have been the final.

I'm afraid the best manager in English football is knocking The Arsenal out of Europe.

Edit: Why did I say best manager in English football rather than best English manager.

It's the perfect draw for his career, will properly get him noticed.

Easy draw though really, and one of Napoli and RB going out is a bonus.
