chokeo hynes can't nail the field goal in a tight game, must be a day ending in a y
haha as much as he doesn't deliver in the big moments, I really don't think yesterday was his fault.
He was unlucky to hit the post from halfway - and the other attempts he had were stuffed up by the hooker going 1 play too long imo

Sounds like league have implemented what union did. It'll mean every incidental bit of head contact is a binning for 12 months, then get worse. Then maybe improve after a couple dodgy send offs in big matches.

I'm sure the refs will maintain these standards at Origin right? Be nice to get some 10v10 league on the go.

i think that's right (fg try on the third or fourth always beats the fg try on the fifth) but when you've got a rep for not delivering in the big moments, having back to back field goals charged down by the shitgers of all teams is quite telling. iirc he actually had a few charged down against us last year too so i wonder if he's hitting them too low

Kind of feels like the game is in a bit of a hole at the moment. The number of sin bins being dished out is beyond ridiculous.
Players going down and trying to milk a penalty is just bullshit. Leave that junk to Soccer ffs

The game has a real problem dealing with high contact in any meaningful way .

It knows CTE is a massive upcoming issue and needs to do something about it, but by the same token it doesn’t want to compromise the physicality of the game, which includes wrapping the ball up and aggressive defending.

I think the real issue for league on this issue is the same one which besets it on a ton of things - lack of contest for the ball. Possession rules everything.

It ain’t like afl where there’s another contest for the ball in five seconds, so a free kick (penalty) isn’t such a big deal. In league a penalty, let alone a sin bin, is a massive deal. They turn games and flip the flow of possession on its head, which invariably leads to a stack of points.

I genuinely don’t know what the answer is. Probably penalty sufficient, or if they want lower contact they need to slow the game down more so legs tackles are viable again. atm as soon as you go low you’re told to roll away which speeds up the play the ball and disadvantages the defensive line.

It’s a genuinely awkward issue for the game imo

Unsurprising to anyone, apparently last round had the most sin bins in NRL history (18)

Some curious stats btw

Mate surfers is Campbelltown by the sea already

can anyone explain to me how Simonsen was penalised in that one on one contest for the bomb? Ridiculous call. Two more sets on our line and that sealed it. Had plenty of chances to win it though

Yeah that was ridiculous imo.

At least the only sinbin in the game deserved it.

Great first half by the Warriors, but I haven't enjoyed the last few minutes.

missing tuups and curran already and with preston looking at time on the sidelines for a so-called "crusher" (tino's fault) i'm pessimistic about as to whether we have the punch in the pack to take on the milk - forward pack is seriously impressive and it's BIG

Really should have won that game. That's two on the bounce now. Very frustrating. So many bombed chances. Still think our forwards are too small overall, but there's some real goers among them. Shame Tuivati wasn't fit for tonight, he'd have helped a lot. I like the more expansive style they're trying to play to utilize what is after all a decent back line. Also think the defensive structures are starting to gel - a lot less rushing in now thank ****.

Lomax back next week, which would be handy given goal kicking cost us the game tonight. Simonsen's foot injury probably means we still won't have a full strength back line on the park though

Yeah thanks for that

I'd like to apologise to any Raiders fans on here. It is only through me tipping them to win that they could **** things up so badly that they let in 3 tries in 7 minutes after being 20-0 up. I'll be in the hall of mirrors having a good hard look at myself.

While I am here, I should apologise to Newcastle fans too.

I'm not sure whether the Warriors are genuine contenders or not, but it does seem like we're winning a lot more of these nail-biting games than we have in previous years.
