Is Sehwag the greatest batsman on subcontinent wickets?

Sehwag may be shaky on the seaming wickets of NZ, England or South Africa, but in the subcontinent there is a case for him as the greatest batsman of all-time.

Averaging 54 in India, 69 in Sri Lanka and 90 in Pakistan. Strikerate of over 80 and tons against Murali, Warne, McGrath, Steyn, Shoaib. Multiple double and triple tons. Is anyone even close?

Younis Khan has doubles and triples all over the region, including BAN and UAE where Sehwag was either below par or didn't play at all. Khan's case as the best batsman of the last twenty years is generally underrated when compared to others like Kallis and Sangakkara but in the SC especially he was as much of a colossus as there's been.

Sehwag didnt play in UAE but he would have loved it there. Bangladesh isnt really as important. But I think Sehwag's strikerate plus his prolific scoring in India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka gives him the edge. Though I agree Younis and perhaps Inzi both have good cases.

Kohli didn't have to face Murali or Asif/Akthar but he averages 62 in Asia with 6 double centuries over 49 tests which is pretty epic.

Kohli hasnt played Pakistan sadly but I reckon he would do well.

The real answer to this question though is Jayawardene. He has a very similar record to Sanga in the SC (averaging 60 with around 25-26 hundreds in 85-95 games) but his record is a lot less based on the plunder of weak Bangladesh, Zimbabwe and West Indies bowling sides at home. 9/26 tons of Sangakkara are against those sides and 3/25 for Jayawardene.

I also would trust Jayawardene to be better than Sangakkara on dustbowls.

Obviously Jayawardene is nowhere near the overall batsman Sangakkara is because he averages about 35 or less outside the SC wheras Sanga averages roughly the same even away from the SC. However, within the SC, Jayawardene was clearly better IMO.

My second pick after Jayawardene would be Sachin Tendulkar.

For some reason YK never comes to mind in the discussions of best batsmen, despite him being phenomenal for Pakistan all through the 00s and 10s and keeping us competitive in most places.

That hurt their feelings. Now watch out for Nidahas cobra dance the next time you play them.
