Conditions were tougher than you are making out that series. See Tahirs performance. Was averaging 46 at under 3 a game going into it. Took a bunch at 21 that series, and got dropped for good after the series. Leggie as well, not as well suited to the conditions.

But ya, averaging 36 is not some kind of ATG series, although I think it was a series an ATG would be happy with, low average notwithstanding.

The rest of RSAs inability to play the conditions with the bat make him look better than he was, and the reverse is true with their poor bowling (no decent spinner, both of the quality quicks injured).
Let us not forget the unbelievable blockathon played by ABD and Amla in the 4th test against Ashwin and Jadeja.
