India : What next??

So another humiliating defeat is coming as India are 8 down right now.2-0 is going to be the score line.:(
Things need to be put in order before the next test.India badly missed Sehwag in these two tests & Gambhir in the 2nd.Mukund has been really dissapointing & isn't looking like test ready yet for overseas tours.Probably needs another full domestic season.
India should first of all check whether Sehwag can play in the third test or not.Even if he's 80% fit,we should have him sent to England & play the tour match against Northants.
If not,we should get a new opener for the 3rd test.Probably get Vijay back.
Too harsh on Dravid & Laxman here. They have to virtually open the innings against Anderson & Broad.
Zaheer should be back in the team for the tour match.I would say, drop Harbhajan & play 4 seamers.Or take a chance with Mishra. He can't be worse than Bhajji has been.

Some good news finally.
"For all the downcast Indian fans, here's some good news: Indian opening batsman Virender Sehwag is scheduled to land in England on Tuesday morning."

Harbhajan can **** off tbh. Except the SA tour(1 test) has done nothing much with the bowl for long now.

Can the run of low scores (<300 4 times in a row) really be blamed on missing 1 and a half batsmen though? Seems a bit simplistic to me.

Clone Zaheer? 124-8 turning to 221 and 544 on a helpful wicket with Strauss, Cook and Trott misfiring is not terrifically good.

Hope both Sehwag and Gambhir play in the next match. A full strength XI in Sehwag, Gambhir, Dravid, Sachin,Laxman, Yuvraj, Dhoni, Mishra, Zaheer, Praveen, Ishant/Sree should atleast be able to draw the next test.

btw, will Dhoni be playing the next match? Or would he banned for the slow over rate in the first innings?

No Marc. The English team were really good and well and truly outplayed the Indian team.
But with Sehwag in, the batting order would also be restored to its proper order which can make a significant difference.

Oh yes, the batting out of order thing, that hurt England in the 2nd innings here didn't it?

Add in the fact that Gambhir is the only injury from this game that wasn't avoidable with proper player management.

It took a brilliant innings from Bell to achieve it.
The 'batting out of order' thing is not an excuse. But Dravid, though he played well, has never been comfortable in opening the innings, Mukund is a ****. And in an ideal scenario, only one of Raina/Yuvraj, who have technical deficiencies, would play. So it did play a part.

Well even if Dravid was batting 3, he's in in the first few overs. That doesn't change the fact that the main 2 injuries are as a result of poor management, something which can be overcome.

Not surprised as it looked a real nasty one. Could easily be a break.

If he is injured I guess CW's fav pic man will be back as a replacement.8-)

Get Mishra in. If any of Zaheer, Gambhir, Sehwag are ready then bring them in for sreesanth, Mukund and Yuvraj respectively. Play attacking cricket since you have nothing to lose, and pray the team's health holds up.

You are right. This thread should not exist. No one should talk about what can India possibly do better. They lost the right to do that after TB.
