Great Batting Partners

Using Statsguru to find some great partnerships I was a little surprised to find the following tops the averages list for > 20 Innings....

(1) Javed Miandad & Shoab Mohammad: 23 Inn, 2012 runs @ 91.82, Highest 248, 8 century stands

Didn't know Hanif Mohammad had a Son that played Test Cricket and the partnership was higher than some more expected:

(2) Hobbs & Sutcliffe: 39 Inn, 3339 runs @ 87.86, Highest 283, 15 century stands

(3) Bradman & Woodfull: 22 Inn, 1850 runs @ 84.09, Highest 274, 7 century stands

I was also happy to see:

(10) Greg Chappell & Kim Hughes: 21 Inn, 1517 runs @ 72.23, Highest 179, 7 century stands

2 of my favourite 80's players but didn't know they were so successful together...

....or maybe Hussey and Gillespie should have batted together more often...they average 320 together, although they did only bat once

(2) Hayden/Langer: 122 Inn, 6081 runs @ 51.53, Highest 255, 14 century stands
(3) Dravid/Tendulker: 119 Inn, 5997 runs @ 52.60, Highest 249, 18 century stands

Hayden/Langer was the most intimidating opening pair I ever saw.

Not just due to their cricket either. They mentally beat bowlers up.

Ok, but I used 20 innings minimum for Viv's records.....so that at least removes Sehwag and Sidhu

Impressive record by Tendulker....would think it's hard to beat...

Not Tendulkar's fault that India had the better batting order and a more settled one for most of his career (except openers)

Also, if I take 40 innings as criteria, there would 4 left still for Sachin, while there would be only 2 left in case of Viv

Sachin-Sehwag is pretty good. Dravid-Laxman must also be good, especially against Australia.

Well I think Greenidge, Haynes, Richards, Lloyd, Kalicharran was pretty settled, so Tendulker achieved on merit by himself I think

For NZer's there is always something in the folklore of the Crowe and Jones partnership.
Batted together 28 times and scored 1803 @ 64.39. That's amazing stats for NZ batters. In know that 467 of those runs came in one go...

By the way, looking at stats for most prolific NZ partnership records - John Wright is 5 out of the top 10. Nuggety.
