Yes, and then you look at his One Day stats, which tell far more about his bowling then any perceived potential from FC stats.
Not necessarily. Clarke had a bad FC record but a good OD record. Potential was there neverthless. If some one has a bad one day record but a good FC record, it shows he isnt and absolute mug and maybe good enough to play.

simon jones is quite similar, if fact his domestic one day bowling record can only be described as absolutely, positively, 100% shocking

A record that is somewhat temepered by the amount he bowls.

If he has a poor OD record, that counters anything in a different form of the game.

Tempered because he was injured too and didnt bowl as much as he could. It can be taken the other way round. Poor OD record counters any thing? That wasnt the same for Clarke who had a poor FC record and yet has managed good thigns in test cricket.

Sorry, but even Clarke's biggest fan would dispute that he's achieved good things with the ball in Tests.

It was a freak pitch, not ability.

Even he said it was like playing in school cricket.

Having said that, I definitely rate Clark with the ball. Not as good as Lehman for me, but someone I definitely want to help fill that 5th bowler role.

With the bat not with the ball!

Clarke had a poor FC batting record before inducted onto Tests. Watson has a poor OD record for bowling but can prove himself in the ODIs

So you're saying we should ignore that and base his ability on his FC form?

Still doesn't help with the original, very flawed, claim.

Nobody denied the pitch was poor, it was just the way that people (especially on here) weren't complaining until after the game.

Sour grapes tends to be over something unfounded... If the pitch was really bad then they'd have every reason to complain, regardless of when they did it.

Sour Grapes are more to do with the team losing than anything else.

The RWC2003 proved an apt case of this.

Both teams had to play on the same pitch.

India did a better job.

indeed, i dont understand how the pitch can be used as an excuse for anything, or how people can complain about the pitch when in fact we see far too many flat wickets these days that dont even produce a result.
