Andre Nel attempts suicide

People are allowed to pass judgement, it's our god given right.

Suicide is real, mental illness is real, but why should our opinion of someone suddenly change if we find out they have a mental illness. If I don't like someone, then find out they have bipolar and attempted suicide, then I still don't like them, but I can appreciate the struggles of the illness. People are just so **** scared of looking bad and having an opinion when something like this happens because it's so "sensitive".

Not that i'm saying I dislike Nel, I like the guy as a cricketer, I just don't think people should be made to fake liking someone if they don't.

No one is asking you to change your opinion of him. Your opinion of him has little relevance to the thread however.

But certain people were asked to not comment further, so really the same things, splitting hairs ?n The thread has little to do with cricket anyway. It IS however, a rather saddening human interest story from a few angles

Thread's going well then. A healthy mix of ****wittery and sanctimony; usually have to read YouTube comments for my daily fixes of those.

The report's a little short on details, so best not to second guess at this stage. Hope he recovers tho.

on a serious note hope he can bring his personal life back on track domestic issues are usually a bitch.

Matt mentioned a line. I think the line falls somewhere between "I don't like the guy" and "He's a cowardly dog for trying to kill himself while his wife is pregnant." One makes you look opinionated, the other makes you look like an idiot.

Obviously the general mood is more sympathetic towards him because anyone should be able to see that the guy is going through some pretty major **** right about now, and just isn't coping.

Never liked him personally, but wish him all the best.

Have no sympathy for him. Just one more selfish act to go on the list by the looks of things.
Lengthy ban required

The guy tried to kill himself and would've left behind family and an unborn child - in short, it's a tragedy

Usually I regard Scaly's posts with mirth and disdain but refrain from commentary.

But his ignorance has just crossed the line and for his own sake, as well as the site's credibility, he should be chucked

I think we should all hold off on the brickbats or the garlands for other people's opinions until we know all the facts myself.

One sympathises with Nel and particularly with his wife and unborn child, but from the report linked to there's no indication of how serious his attempt was. Not suggesting anything either way, but he'd hardly be the first philandering husband caught with his **** out to perform a desperate act as a cry for help if that's what it proves to be.

Social, if you have a problem with a post, it should be reported to moderators. This kind of an attack on another poster is unacceptable

Sorry, but he sounds like a coward to me. I really feel for the missus and the kid. He ****s them over, then allegedly tries to take the easy way out and abandons them.

I hope he turns his life around for their sake.

If he has a mental illness then things are obviously different and my post should be disregarded.

OK

Report Scaly's post to moderators as I find it distasteful in the extreme and a very poor reflection on the site
