Do you want to point out the pace bowling deficiences of the other team or should I?
Against a lineup like this, we would need all the pace bowling firepower we can get and not picking a bowling all rounder in addition to Sobers (who won't bowl much pace against this lineup) was a big mistake.

:p

Haha, we're both about to get a lot of groans, but couldn't agree more!

The Black Bradman. And yep, what a top 5.

Again harsh on the Governor General - should I point out that he did quite a lot of bowling pre-WWI so we can get him in at 6? ;)

mccabe, mccartney and leyland were awesome cricketers. it is painful to leave them behind but george headley was better than all of them. and yes, what a batting line up! it looks even more formidable when you select them one by one like this than writing the entire team at one go which i have done in the past.

Obviously Headley. Take a look at that, Hobbs-Sutcliffe-Bradman-Hammond-Headley. Don't worry though, we have Warne and Murali to take care of 'em.

Just imagine them having to bowl first. 100 all out on Day 5. :p
Well I have not seen the bowling line up, will the new boys be allowed to wear helmets? If not and if the oldies operate under the back foot rule (with drag) pity help the moderns:-O

Excuse me, the old boys will be the ones needing helmets against the genuine pace of Marshall (wish I could say Imran but some people messed up royally with that vote :p).

GROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Get over it - as if Marshall, McGrath, Warne and Murali aren't going to take 20 wickets a match between them. And as if Sobers isn't going to be a solid, albeit not spectacular support. Yes, even against players of the class we're looking at here. People are always carrying on about how Larwood and Gregory, Spoffoth and Barnes, can't have been a patch on modern pace bowlers - in Marshall and McGrath we've got two of the greatest modern quicks, and we've got the two greatest spinners the game has seen to follow up on the breakthroughs they make. I'd back that line up to contain even this batting line up to a score that the post-war team has a realistic shot of achieving. Bradman would likely prove the difference, but I don't think having Lillee or Ambrose instead of Warne would actually alter that equation at all...
