He can't really bowl like Srinath, because he can't bust out 20 overs a day. He can't really bowl like any specialist bowler; nor should he be expected to, though.
That's also part of the reason Kallis never enters into consideration for AT XIs. His batting, I dare say, is a tad below that of his contemporaries, and there are far better bowling all rounders. For example, I'd have Keith Miller over Kallis in my AT XI quite easily

Yes, that's true. I was reluctant to name a frontline bowler (I was originally thinking Flintoff) even though he has comparable stats. He has a pretty unique role in his team that way so it's hard to compare.

Now that he's been mentioned, Watson is the closest analogy to him.

Whatever it takes!!!
Dunno about you, but I've never seen a woman who looks like Nasser Hussain. :p
that is an insult to women, tbh. :) I was referring to Wright and Watson, but dare say, Athers does whine like some women I know, at times..

BTW, seriously interested in why you would think THAT 3 are the best you have seen... Really interested. :)

I think they are his favourites, not necessarily the best 3 in an objective sense.

Well, as vcs says, there is maybe a small amount of personal bias involved.

Atherton, because he was the player when I was growing up that a lot of our fortunes rested on. He was such a stubborn player and had masses of pressure with the captaincy from a very young age. I also thought he was very good looking so I put pictures of him all over my walls, and kept a scrapbook of newspaper cuttings of articles about him. Basically, I got into cricket because of him, and he was my second biggest teenage obsession. (Graham Coxon was the first, btw!)

Nasser, because I think he was the turning point for England. Vaughan may have got the plaudits but imo it was Nasser who really changed things. I also loved his fiery nature and I find him great as a commentator. Again, he's also quite hot.

Watto, because I just love the drama, the ups and downs, all the emotion. I just think he's brilliantly bonkers, because he seems to have a Gunther-esque personality on the field, and in interviews he's so polite and shy. And he's just about the cutest bloke I've ever seen.

 Apologies! :shy:

Eyes not spreadsheets
With regards to his batting, he tends to accumulate his runs rather than dominate opposing teams and his bowling, while nothing flash, is effective but neither highly entertaining.
I also factor in the padding out to his record that feasting on weaker nations has done.

Plus his unexplained injuries that seemed to clear up within a week when it went from England on a relatively flat deck to Zimbabwe...

:) Great. And thanks for putting that in such detail. Sorta guessed those would be the reasons.

FWIW, I am a pretty big fan of Nasser myself.. Don't really like the other 2, though. :)
