India had a slips session where Nair was at first slip, so I think he’ll play. Reddy and Sai took turns at gully fwiw.

Lots of potential options for India but at the bare minimum I hope Akash comes in for Prasidh/Bumrah and Thakur is sent back to India.

This isn't obvious at all because Reddy is just Thakur but younger at this current point. Asking for him over one of Jadeja/Shardul is not solving anything.

He comes in at no 7 as he's a better batter currently than both. We need 4 proper bowlers alongside a 5th option in Reddy/Jadeja.
The 4 proper bowlers can't include the above mentioned 3 names though.

This is what I'd go for with Akashdeep Bumrah (Arshdeep if he isn't there) and one of Siraj/Prasidh

Nitish is a more correct batsman than Thakur for one and an absolute livewire in the field too, something this team could do with, so there's two instant improvements for you.

A lot of reports are pointing towards Sundar over Kuldeep.. what a joke! And picking 3 bits and pieces cricketers like if it is a T20 match.. I don't see how these fools take 20 wickets on a flat deck or at least without conceding 900+ runs in the match. If Gambhir had any brains, he'd strengthen the bowling so that the Ind batting would have to set/chase even less runs. Make life easier by dismissing opposition for cheaper. But no he wants to make bowling weaker and just add rubbish options who gonna get taken apart, just to lengthen the batting. Its gonna become another bat off. 450 v 500 type of match once early grass/moisture settles.

Another thing dumb about this move is that Sundar is not a #8 batsman in any line-up. Neither are Jaddu and NKR. You are just wasting their batting talents anyways. I would have rather picked my side with 3 #9s than this one with 3 #7s.

Gill was asked if Bumrah's absence might encourage them to play a wicket-taking spinner in Kuldeep Yadav. "We will take that [final] call this evening, and I don't think it will change the combination as such," Gill said, suggesting a direct swap between Bumrah and a fast bowler, and a spinner for Shardul Thakur, whom India played as a "bowling allrounder".

"We did play an extra bowler, I would say a proper bowling allrounder in the last match," Gill said. "And now having to look back at it, I think nobody really expects that your last six is going to get out in under 40 runs. Even if they play bad, you expect them to maybe score 100 runs or 80 runs.
