Looks like everyone are thinking Kuldeep is the solution. In England, he or for that matter, no spinner is one. Need the pacers to step up if Bumrah goes missing.
He might not come off after all of our glazing tbh but you have to at least give him the chance to fail. At the very least he brings the rarest skillset in cricket into play.

No, what I am saying is the role in which he is brought in is not right. It is almost like he is selected to fail. He can be a great support bowler to Bumrah but he cannot be leading the attack on getting selected and win the match on his own.

But going by what the assistant coach said, Sundar looks probable to play the second test along with Jadeja as the two spinners.

Yeah he needs to work in tandem with Bumrah to be fully effective.

That would be a disaster.
It would mean Gambhir has learnt nothing from the Australia tour where he played the same set of so called all rounders who proved to be absolutely innocuous as bowlers. NKR, Jadeja and Sundar aren't really gonna add much to the bowling attack in England. But there's a chance we may see all three playing once again. Would prove to be a T20 style selection- picking several bits and pieces type of cricketers over specialists. Honestly if I see Sundar playing over Kuldeep, might give this test a complete skip.

I will drop Siraj for Arshdeep but otherwise that side is ok IMO. Siraj may actually go better bowling the first over than the second.

The bloke is obviously a walk up start to India's ATG side but how much longer a rope do they give Jadeja? His bowling seems to have fallen off a cliff in the last 12 months and he's not quite what he was with the bat either, and they probably want to get Washington in the team sooner than later.

The obvious thing to do is drop Jadeja and Thakur and replace them with Reddy and Kuldeep, which they won't do. The rumours are that Karun and Thakur are going to be replaced by Reddy and Sundar, which is as brain dead as possible. They really saw our issues with wicket taking and decided that the solution is to not play our 2 best wicket takers in Bumrah and Kuldeep, and play 3 part time all rounders instead. ****ing idiots ffs

Two very, very mediocre outfits going at it on what will doubtless be another lifeless road served up in an effort to hide the home side's inability to play anything which deviates more than 0.2 of a millimeter. Let the paint drying begin for those stupid enough to be invested in this abject non-event.

I am not sure but looks like we expect him to see out this cycle. AFAIC, I would rather drop Sai Suds than Karun after just one game.

Large majority of Indian fans will be infuriated by this.

Every poll has seen the majority wanting Kuldeep to play the 2nd test. It is likely to be another dryish wicket so it's a nobrainer. If Gambhir again leaves him out for the sake of batting, India will no doubt lose this series very badly. Then I really hope Gambhir gets sacked as a result. He's been a big liability so far when it comes to test cricket. His tactics have been very regressive and negative, almost reverted back to the days of Dhoni.

Kuldeep being left out is absolute madness. Does Gambhir remember that you have to take 20 wickets to win a game (most of the time anyway)?

One hopes this isn't a case of personal relationships coming over actual performance.

How could you have any personal issues with a loveable little Oompa Loompa like Kuldeep?
