I've just seen Harris' dismiss and holy moly. Good catch from Buttler though.
any reason harris was persisted despite him being obviously bad? this is his last test innings - 2nd innings will be. khawaja to move into opener i'd say?
He's been the most successful non-Pucovski opener domestically.

extremely slow going here. slower than watching paint dry. atleast they not giving the wicket away is ok.

So even though Hazelwood was a scratch, Star still got dropped from the team?

No real other options. The rest are either too new, concussed or now middle order bats and I don't think repeating the Wade opener experiment is worth the time. And like Starfighter said, Harris has some runs in the bank.

Root will probably bowl himself a fair bit as the main spin option.

To make my point again, if it didn't feel very unorthodox having a specialist batsman at 8(or Joss) I could totally have justified playing one over Woakes here
Could've picked Lawrence instead of Woakes and got him to share the spin duties with Root

this england attack is much better than 1st test. basically unplayable. i cant see aussies getting any runs but england batting isnt that flash especially against in form neser and jhye - probably our two most in form pacers in domestic cricket past half decade, will be a handful.

I'm honestly surprised that Harris had struggled at test level opening in Aus. County returns are Roy esque unless he's in the middle order but he's been a level above in the shield for the past few seasons.
