One of the rugby tactics teams have begun adopting these days is the short line drop out. the game desperately needed it imo as it’s actually a contest for the ball, of which there is precious little. Been a big improvement, even if I suspect it’s really been brought about by the penny finally dropping that it's actually easier to defend 10 out than it is 30 out from your own try line given the speed at which defensive lines move these days

Always wondered why you want to give someone like a Junior Paulo a 25m run up before you have to tackle him - short drop out makes sense, also wondered why more teams didn't actively try for the bounce out to the sideline as well.

it'll happen a lot more now they've gotten rid of the penalty for a short dropout/kicking it out on the full from a dropout

Yeah I feel like this is an overcorrection and now the downside for ****ing it up is so meaningless that 90% are gonna be short.

Having given this some serious thought....
We don't really want to be chopping and changing our selections for many reasons.
Firstly it's a bit of a mess but more importantly it's not good to be able to have two bites of the cherry.
If for example there is a key player ruled out at a late stage, there will no doubt be a mad scramble with almost everyone wanting
to change their selection at the very last moment.
If you want to wait until the last possible moment to get your selections down that's fine, but remember for those who get their selections
in early, if such cause occurs it could result in favour of or against you, that's the luck of the draw.
No problem this time round you can change your selections up until kick-off an hour before the first match, but come round 3 make your
selections and be done with it if you enter early. In reality once you've thought your selections through there shouldn't be a need to change.
Also it's a comp and we're all competing against each other. If you think a particular line is a good thing then keep it quiet, it's no good
to you if everyone else is doing the same. By all means let us know what you think is the best line of the week, but only after all picks
are in and the round has closed for getting selections in.
