Not too much going on with the new ball thus far. Might be a case of it starts to hoop more around the 20-40 over mark but this looks nice conditions for batting. Worry batting first was a bad move. Thank god England's batting is the way it is.

Cummins didn't get much movement in the WC either. He's looked exhausted lately.
The England players in the Ireland game looked tired last week. Root and Bairstow in particular. Woakes was dreadful in the first innings but picked it up in the 2nd and looked very good yesterday.

Will be fascinating to see how the ones who played in WC cope over the series and which ones get rotated out to keep the side fresh.

I guess it's time we appreciate how skillful Broad, JImmy and Woakes are at extracting movement at home. Weirdly, Pakistani pacers always rival them when they tour.

Don't think conditions have changed tbh. English bowlers have been miles better at finding movement in every home Ashes since 2005.

Well it is a typical English pitch, the top order just batted crap yesterday. God help them in good bowling conditions.

This is the first time I've seen Rory Burns bat. As the bowler approaches his delivery stride, it looks like Rory is having a stroke.

"Not sure you want to bowl any leftie there"

Except Nicholls who cant play off his pads weirdly.
