*Official* New Zealand in England 2015

Just shaving the stump there. I figured it looked to take a bigger chunk.

Why would you play that shot?

Not the worst timing, with the Aussies arring any minute now.

OK, nobody likes Broad not / hardly appealing for LBW, but rather run around the filed cheering. But if there ever was a plumber plumb decision to do so, this was it.

Gordon Greenidge doing the damage with 214 not out.

Fair enough. It's indeed what happened.

I'm not so sure what you mean by posting that link? Anyway, that declaration looked to become rather awkward until Vijay got out.

Can't blame the umpire for not giving it. A very very faint nick it was. Broad's the next man. Can I place a bet? I say he won't face a dozen balls......

About Cook's declaration: It won't come before lunch. I'm not saying I agree with it, but I really can't see him taking too mnay risks. In his defense (if he indeed refuses to declare), it can be said that if only 4 wickets fall on the 4th day, it's probably still good to bat on the 5th day. A...

It's Tough Being Me - The Kevin Pietersen Story

In short: 1- KP messes up the team spirit by being KP and is thrown out. 2- KP gets back in, and again messes up the team spirit by being KP, so gets thrown out again. 3- Some quasi-important dude at ECB hints at a KP-comeback, provided he scores FC runs. 4- KP decides to have a go at English...

It's Tough Being Me - The Kevin Pietersen Story

Is there some sort of formalisation that Pietersen was offered an advisor's role? I don't buy that.......

It's Tough Being Me - The Kevin Pietersen Story

He's just being polite. I read things differently: According to ECB and Strauss, Pietersen still is England's best batsman (or at least worth his place), yet also the world's greatest intoxicating bastard and arsehole. They feel putting him back in the team will only poison a good sportsmen's...

It's Tough Being Me - The Kevin Pietersen Story

This, or something like it, makes sense. Pietersen was dropped for being a dick, time and time again. Scoring runs won't change that. Giving him some sort of way to prove he is no longer a dressing room poisoning arsehole, seems to be the only way for him to be reconsidered.

It's Tough Being Me - The Kevin Pietersen Story

I must say I wasn't really aware many people felt KP would get another chance, provided he showed the business in FC cricket. Sounds even a bit naive to me. I, for one, never thought he was crap! It seems pretty obvious to me he was never dropped for poor batting form. Pietersen was simply not...

It's Tough Being Me - The Kevin Pietersen Story

A big nice 300 then for KP. Not that this will change a thing. He wasn't dropped for his batting. Whatever the exact reasons were for the ECB, those reasons have not gone anywhere.

    The LBW Umpire Referral Flaw

Would that be bad? Let's compare things with the run out or stumping. Umpires don't even bother to make a decision before going upstairs. IMHO, it makes sense to do so with LBW's or caught behinds as well.

Did so. Weird stuff..... And there is no Hillview Street in Beaufort, South Carolina.

    The LBW Umpire Referral Flaw

I think the margins currently used are several times as large as the margins suggested by the providers of hawkeye. Edit: Dan bet me to it.... By nearly 4 hours. Apparently, the used margins are 10 times as large as suggested by Hawkeye. That's simply not right.

    The LBW Umpire Referral Flaw

Not sure if it was posted, but the margin of error, due to the middle of the ball having to hit inside the middle of the stump, is 5.4 cm (a bit more than 2 inches). Whether this is too large, is arbitrary, not? I look at it this way: If you bowl the perfect delivery, hitting the off stump not...
