Can't believe the expectations on this board. We are in a position to win this series, the other side isn't. Quite frankly considering the rank pus that our batting has been for a lot of the time - well for a lot of the time in the past 12 months - we are well ahead of the game.

It's not that surprising. They're hardly the most convincing top 6 in the world, are they?

So they need to keep refining their guidelines for use then.

What's not to understand? It's because of DRS that people are pissed off. Umpires make errors from time to time fair enough, but what is DRS there for?

That was such a pile of nonsense. If most of the ball is hitting most of the stump, how can it be ump's call? It's like they've taken off-stump pretty much out of the equation. Nuts.

Marsh and Hussey were drinking like men in a desert yesterday. I'm sure none of the bowlers will be able to do really long spells.

Why did he chase that? Why? Why? Are none of them watching the way Marsh has batted? Huss must be getting REALLY bored with coming out with **** all for 3/4 on the board.

As the skipper has realised finally. Gees, that was a dicey leave!

That's only the second pull shot I've seen from him. Very disciplined early, though they haven't exactly peppered him. I hope that's part of some sort of realisation on his behalf.

I agree, sort of, except that on this so-called road the Aussies were 3/116, prime collapse territory, road or not considering our past history. And tons are pretty scarce from our established players these days apart from Huss so while I think Marsh should have been benched, I can understand...

    Your most aesthetically appealing XI

That's a really elegant team. I think Shahid Afridia has a really pleasing action for a spin bowler. Lovely high arm.

Oh well, he's been surprisingly decent so far. I mean decent as in accurate, he seems to get stuff all on the ball or out of the pitch unlike Cops and Harris.

This. I think the Saffer attack will make a meal of us unless Hughes picks up from where he left off over there. How has Johnson been this morning?

But who do you think could correct that problem? Who do you think should be there in place of Copeland?

I agree about Hughes and I don't even like watching him bat. He makes me wince, but they have placed so much faith in him by not even giving Kat a farewell contract that they have to give him at least this series and the next and if he's still arsing around without going on, shoot the clay...

They've been so hot on the light in this match, it very well could happen.

Yeah, fair enough, but if they keep showing this level of concentration and discipline, they will get luckier all the time. Anyway Huss  getting two batsmen out in one match has probably used up our luck for the match.

The bowling is pretty encouraging really. Both batsmen (not Haddin obviously, he's beyond salvation) and bowlers have to learn discipline when the games aren't going their way, it's what's been lacking for ages. Sheet, just before the new ball.

Very late, after Day 1 Melbourne, this is a walk in the Park. We are probably not going to lose the match after all and these two have eaten better attacks than this for lunch at home. Lyon is doing ok, he has created chances.

Who do you think has the tools to get these guys out on these flat wickets out of the Australian bowlers? Considering that scores like 500 were sometimes wracked up against teams with McGrath and Warne in them.
