I'm hoping he gets that time. I like him a lot as a batsman and he's come in under the hammer so it would do his confidence a world of good to get some runs here.

It's not like he scores runs for fun anymore. Him getting out after looking good is pretty much par for the course these days.

Ussie doesn't look at all comfortable against spin, does he? I hope he watches how Huss uses the crease.

Copeland has aspirations with the bat, he's spoken about it before. Harris used to have aspirations with the bat but now he just wants to get through a match unscathed. Copeland and Nathan Lyon had a very useful partnership in the only Aus A one day game they played in together. Lyon belted a...

That's what it feels like. For some reason, I keep expecting him to nick off each ball. Woh, that ball turned. But that one is outside the line.

Greig is such a bug-eyed grint. I suppose I should be grateful that Healy isn't over there.

    Looks like it, doesn't it?

    Bloody Greig's on. Hell.

That ball came back a mile.

I'm saying it's about a fourth day pitch and quite frankly, I don't blame them. When you don't have a strong seam attack it's best to give the spin bowlers every chance. It's no different to an English or Aussie groundskeeper providing a green top.

Yeah, they were but Phil Hughes plays at stuff he doesn't have to as a general rule. Having bowlers with averages in the 50's opening your bowling, I guess it's best to duff up the pitch. It looks like a desert out there.

Excellent catch by the wickie. The backstop wouldn't have got near that. Dear oh dear, that was slightly pathetic by Hughes.

I think the weather isn't going to assist with a result in any of the tests.

Is that why the ball goes between his legs a lot? It's embarrassing to watch him sometimes.

You had better hope that Haddin is concentrating very hard then. He never looks quite right against spin. My impression is that he lets many byes through. It's going to be an interesting test match for both sides. So many frailties.

Well, at least it would make a change from the headcase doing it.

I don't see Lyon as a massive gamble. I don't see any of our spin bowlers as a massive gamble. You can only compare them with each other and it's all pretty much square there. The only time our spin bowlers have looked like anything at all in the past 18 months is against Pakistan which says it...

I don't care if either Lyon or Copeland are overawed. It's their first test and considering some of the very experienced players look like novices regularly (Johnson and Hussey to name two), no-one can hold initial nerves against them even if their first spell is complete crap. I'm more...

    Australian Domestic Offseason 2011

Yes, it would be terrible for our Shield batsmen to have to face a decent spin bowler twice a season.... hang on.

    With your own eyes XI

In 1981 I saw Michael Holding, Andy Roberts, Malcolm Marshal and Joel Garner bowl at the WACA v the Aussies. Nothing will ever beat that. I could probably put down that team but swap Dujon for Gilly and that would be it.
