Getting tons scored by someone other than Hussey is very encouraging. Very timely innings by Hughes. Vast relief all round I'd imagine.

No it was a few years ago in the first IPL I think. He might have been in shock at the fuss that was being made of him. Good quality match saving going on. I can't watch how is Punter going?

That's what I reckon. Hope he gets out of that habit quickly.

First time I heard him interviewed, I thought he had learning difficulties. I'm not saying that to be nasty, I really thought it.

I'm curious to see what he says about it. He'll have to have a ripper of a reason to not look like an idiot.

I'm not a Hughes hater. Don't like watching him bat and probably never will, but anybody who pulls out the draw for us here is in my good books.

Marsh haters going to have a field day with that.

Just what I was thinking. He's got a good record considering some of the quirks of his style.

I hate watching him bat, but we need him to suck up some overs here even if he doesn't score a lot. Though he should be able to score runs on this track for god's sake.

Tough opening session coming up. Will Watson open or will they send Marsh up the order?

I'm hoping that Punter pulls his head in. It's about time.

Watson will probably be pretty knackered regardless of him not batting for long in the first innings. Punter and Clarke have to show some stuff, can't leave it up to the two players who batted the longest in the first innings. They'll both be feeling that on top of one and a half days in the...

You are being harsh on a very inexperienced attack three of whom have never bowled in Sri Lanka before this series and Johnson has only bowled with the white ball. And this is a bowler's graveyard. I would hope the Sri Lankans would have bowled better, it's their home ground and they had better...

What an arsey catch. Hads literally had the ball run up his leg and land in his gloves. Brilliant, Copes deserves some luck.

I can see why they don't ignore him though. He's the most experienced bowler out there by miles. I know that doesn't mean much where Mitch is concerned , but I can understand a skipper just hoping like hell that suddenly he turns it on. God, I hate listening to Tawny. And we've got a whole...

Tough chance, bloody hell they need some luck. Another leftie spilling one to his right. I've had just about enough of seeing that.

Surprised he's not fielding at deep fine leg or third man. How Punter's stocks are falling, he's dropped to four and is bowling in the dog days at the SSC. Hilarious.

Greatest ever batsman with the tail?

For sheer mongrel, he's king amongst Aus batsmen since I've followed cricket. I wish he could inject some of that into our current players.

One series can't answer questions completely. We are looking at 2 new bowlers and so far 2 new batsman and a still very young batsman on his second time around. By the end of the Indian series we might have more of an idea if any of them are worth sticking with, but I'm sure none of them will...

Greatest ever batsman with the tail?

Prior isn't in the lists, even Anderson has vastly improved with the willow. He can't play too many shots but his defence has improved out of sight.
