4th Test (Old Trafford, Manchester) - 23rd to 27th of July

I think they have a right to be unhappy about yesterday. Rubbish for much of that day, especially with the new ball.

Superb from Sundar. Was surprised he never got a bowl yesterday m especially after the pie truck was unloaded by the seamers.

He was talking about Brook in the first test when Bumrah got him with a short ball but he had overstepped.

Barely a real chance. Big deflection stood up.

Yeah utter waste of a review. You feel they felt they had to review because it was Root.

I was at a game where he was timed at that and wasn’t convinced. Sure he is capable of quicker than what he showed in more recent England games but I didn’t see him as at that level.

Think India need to bring the spinners on because this has been garbage.

As a" village" umpire who often umpires my own team's batting, rule of the thumb is that you give the plumb decisions (it's only fair) but ones that might be more towards the periphery of the stumps are very much not out!

4th Test (Old Trafford, Manchester) - 23rd to 27th of July

There was some swing in the first few overs. Bumrah's first overs were very good and Kambhoj nearly got Duckett down the leg side with an inswinger. However, it has been all over the shop since then. England didn't even bowl well this morning, especially the swing orientated bowler Woakes. Last...

There's still been help there, but they have wasted it the last few overs. End of.

It is probably a little harsh to be judging Archer during his 2nd test back, but he clearly needs to be able to move the ball away from right-handers better than at present. That imbalance between left and right is a bit of an issue for him.

    English Domestic Season 2025

I would definitely say that's quite true of Surrey now. They had two quite promising bowlers whom had to leave because they weren't getting picked because Surrey tended to produce seam friendly pitches. Virdi and Moriarty.

    Lions tour 2025

Quite a few WTFs in both sides from what I can see although Giteau and his Lordship Adam Ashley-Cooper are standouts and Byrne/Williams being the Lions equivalent with his Lordship Tindall reasonably well known.

    English Domestic Season 2025

I recall that there has always been a fair discrepancy between Jack Leach's home record at Ciderbad and his away FC record. Now in fairness to him, he's bowled generally reasonably well for England in Asia, where he has obviously learnt to bowl on spinning tracks. The other side of the coin is...

4th Test (Old Trafford, Manchester) - 23rd to 27th of July

From what I saw yesterday, both Archer and Carse definitely didn't get the lengths right. Woakes didn't bowl well in his first few overs but was good after that. Dawson bowled as I thought he would, with intelligence and control. No finger spinner is going to rag the ball square, and I'm not...

More than anything, there was no way of dressing up that crapulence in the field with those snippets. That was village!

Well I know that Nasser basically called heads all the time too back when he was captain.

I am glad KSB had the guts to say her piece. To me it looks as though they have been on a real downward spiral over the last 2 years in a continued way and what happened in Australia has only opened up a chasm. Can't understand how they can have the same happy/clappy atmosphere like they seem to...

What would Viv Richards average if he played in the difficult period of the modern era (2010 - current)?

It wasn't necessarily easy to bat on the spin rolled pitches in the Caribbean back in the day, although usually easier against non real quick bowling compared to with what the home team used to churn out. That said, as pointed out above, its not like he didn't have to face some high class...
