He was very impressive. Not just his figures, but he showed an excellent understanding of his role. He started by pitching up and swinging it. Then he went wide yorkers to limit Owen and Green. Then he pulled his length back to Connely and then he finished with yorkers. He showed more t20...

Ok.seriously..... Australia won the toss again. This is getting ridiculous. 7 in a row. We've lost all but one toss in white ball matches this year. Bit of an issue when you have a bowling attack as bad as ours. Might as well go home now,the resukt has been decided.

Our entire bowling attack is nonsense tbh. In most matches. But Chase in particular, was diabolical.

We've basically dozed our way into a T20 crisis to go with the test batting issues. We've won 5 of our last 20 matches. How have we gone from being ranked second in the world to this nonsense in 12 months? That bowling is dreadful, the middle order is out of form, we've lost Pooran and...

Two thoughts. One, why do they keep playing the same bowling attack when it has spent the last 5 matches getting pummelled? Any chance of some experimentation? I honestly think we've lost the plot in this format. Secondly, any chance we can win a toss? The dew is a significant factor in the...

Loved the atmosphere yesterday. Funny that if you actually market the match, have reasonable prices and theme it as a party, the crowd will turn up. Who would have thought? I know this is Dre Russ's retirement double header, but you could argue that his performance yesterday lost us the match...

So what on earth is our T20 team going to look like tomorrow? The two biggest issues in recent matches have been our opening partnerships (Johnson Charles!!!) and powerplay bowling (everyone not named Akheil Hossein). So I expect Shai to open or they may go with young Jewel Andrew if they...

I have a couple of theories. One is that he is weak to average against the short ball. ODI rules and limitations mean he can adapt, survive those balls and score of others. He also stays legside of the ball to open up the off side and so really struggles with pace bowling seaming into him...

Our bowling is genuinely world class and Seales and Joseph have taken wickets in unfavourable conditions as well, tbf. But I agree that if we had less helpful surfaces and the Aussies were able to score a couple of 350 to 400s, we would still get bowled out for 200ish and have lost by even...

Excellent post, thank you. Very clear data demonstrating the difficulty of batting in the Caribbean. I like our dukes ball tbh, I would keep it but produce significantly flatter pitches to compensate for the swing and pronounced seam of the ball (if we even know how to anymore). I think...

Like playing Bangladesh in Guyana and South Africa in St Lucia, the fastest pitch in the Caribbean? We don't do home advantage, we do tourism....

And that is what happens when generations of batters grow up playing on terrible pitches with extremely limited practice facilities.

Fully agree that Starc snd Boland were exceptional. Tbh, the bowling by both teams was exceptional throughout.

They wanted Sammy to bring the white ball players into the fold and liked what he did with the white ball teams. I thought it was a decent enough idea, tbh.

On this, I actually supported Darren Sammys strategy to encourage white ball talent to play tests. It hasn't worked here, but I thought it was worth a try. The guys who batted in Australia and Pakistan, also lost horrifically at home in a test against Bangladesh. None of them average more...

One thing I am grappling with is the importance of pitches and our version of the dukes ball in all of this. Pre 2017 we had slow low pitches and a kookaburra ball that died after 30 overs. Our bowlers sucked, the batting was actually pretty decent at times, okish at others. Then we introduce...

On the not good enough to play county cricket thing, it is mostly, but not completely true. Shai scored runs for Yorkshire and looked a class above, for example. He averages nearly 50 in fc cricket when you take away tests from his record. But for whatever reason, he gets exposed at test level.

This. Absolutely this. To speak to @social 's earlier post on funding, CWI has to distribute that funding to multiple countries/regions. Most of those are led by old farts who have been in post for years and yet can't even organise tournaments, school cricket programmes or half decent practice...

That really isn't needed, tbh. Any coach would be getting it in the neck after that batting performance.

This could be a whole other conversation, tbh. People criticise CWI, but the real villains are Directors in the territories who receive funding every year for the last 30 years and do nothing with it. Players can't access training facilities when it rains in St Kitts ffs. In T & T the only...
