Looking forward to the WC, what does our 11 look like?

1. Head
2. Short/Marsh/?*
3. Inglis
4. Head
5. David*
6. Owen/stoinis
7. ? *
8. Starc/dwarshius? *
9. Second spinner/Cummins/Ellis/Abbott? *
10. Zampa
11. Hazlewood

Put a * on the spots im uncertain on. Stoinis could bat 5 if he's back in form, but I think he's past it right now. Marsh has been a massive let down at the last 2 t20WC's and has been a bit shite here on flat decks. David has been brilliant against the spin today, but not sure I back him to perform at 5 in SL/India on slower decks against leg spinners like Kuldeep, hasaranga, Rashid, etc. David at 7 and stoinis at #5 maybe? Or maxi at 5?

Our other 2 bowlers are also still up for debate IMO. Starc's massively overrated in t20I but I think you want that second guaranteed frontline pacer to be a second option with the new rock.

You have Head in there twice. Green probably makes it at 4.

I'd back Starc in Sri Lanka. Though I think they're also keen on having a SLA option there, so not sure who would miss out if they went that way. I'll have to go back and look at the last IPL but I seem to remember Cummins improving as an opening bowler after Shami was ruled out? And he's decent at the death these days, so there are probably some pitches in India where he could play ahead of Starc.

I don't think the order of David/Maxwell/Owen (or Stoinis) matters too much. Marsh won't be left out for Short unless he's injured.

When it comes down to it the likes of Starc and Hazlewood are soooo much better than Dwarshuis, Abbott etc. I think Ellis still might have something to offer though.

Short is better than Marsh, but they won't drop the skipper. Connolly might be better in SL because he's a left-armer, but I haven't watched him bowl much so can't say if he's better than Maxwell. I'd have just one of Cummins or Starc, but I'd lean towards Cummins personally, I think those pitches suit him more. Others should play anyway.

Pretty much this but bro you are way off base about Connolly. If you'd seen him bowl, he's bad. Maxwell is a far better bowler, and obviously a better bat.

In Asian conditions they have the option of playing an extra bat rather than 3 seamers given they can get overs out of Maxwell, Short, Head. Owen, maybe Green/Marsh as well. An extra bat would support the go hard tactics they are going with

I'd like to see Steve Smith still thereabouts but he just doesn't fit in with this team's philosophy

We've basically dozed our way into a T20 crisis to go with the test batting issues. We've won 5 of our last 20 matches. How have we gone from being ranked second in the world to this nonsense in 12 months?

That bowling is dreadful, the middle order is out of form, we've lost Pooran and basically our only way of winning is to bat second under lights and chase in advantageous conditions.

This year we've had 9 matches. Won 1, 2 no results and 6 losses.Of those, we have lost all but 1 toss.

In 2024 we had 26 matches, won 14, lost 11, 1 no result. We won 13 tosses.

If this team loses the toss and bats first, they lose the match. They've no idea how to set a total and the bowling is not good enough to defend anything. You could see Shai Hope was fuming at Hety and Rutherford at the end, he knew we were woefully short even with 214 runs.

The one caveat I would add is that the Aussies have bowled particularly well in the death overs, they've been very impressive.
