He was in a dire situation. At least played more to his strengths than anyone else. And it's poor because of other social factors to suggest decapitating Siraj for tailending like normal.

He's been a professional cricketer in a top tier setup for years now. Blaming "social factors" on a complete inability to show any care when batting is a terrible excuse.

Siraj's dismissal was the 3rd time in Test history the 40th wicket of a match was a stumping.

The previous two:
- Muralitharan playing for the World XI in Sydney 2005 (Australia won by 210 runs)
- Johannes Kotze for SA against Australia in Johannesburg 1902 (Australia won by 159 runs)

The social factors was about the attitude more than anything. You would know if you kept up with the news.

Doesn't mean criticising him is wrong, but there is a better way to word it.

The situation was indeed dire, but to suggest he deserves no criticism for taking the most p*ss weak option and just giving it away in the final over is frankly absurd. Ok decapitation might be a bit strong, deserves his b*llocks serving to him on a plate.

I would love to see what snivelling idiot Dobell has to say at the end of the series. I dont agree with or enjoy a lot of Harsha and KP's commentary but their discussion on this matter earlier today was on point.

And FWW, SoSing Pujara is not really an option as he has retired hurt when batting in his Ranji game today and anyone who knows Pujara knows he loves batting as much as Steve Smith does. Must be a pretty serious injury if he had to bail from easy runs in a Ranji fixture. Now, it maybe that it was actually a SoS call from the Indian team and he simply left the game but I dont think that would be the case.

Dube could be a legit option as a Pant replacement for spin hitting in this line up given how direbad some of our righties have been. He made a 100 against a good attack today and has been picking 2fers and 3fers all through this season so far.
