Haha I don't think there will be too many people who actually manage to watch both Tests in their entirety when they're on at the same time. I'd do it but I actually have a life that weekend; I imagine 99% of people or more have more of a life than me so that rules out most people out really.

Fair enough. I have a more western perspective but I fully realize that not every culture is the same and not every place is the same. In America, I would not have problem with *** selection. India is a different place, and I am fully aware of the scope of the problem that exists. The easy answer is that it's due to poverty but it persists in non-poverty ridden areas as well, so there is a cultural issue and I do commend the government for at least trying to do something. I think there are certainly instances where individual rights have to be subsumed to the collective but deciding to have children is so fundamental that I am not sure if it ever should be - especially if the woman herself wants a boy. As I said, this is a tough situation and my gut tells me that in India, they need government laws to eradicate it. Would education and awareness work without the force of law? Maybe, but the problem is serious and I cannot fault people for trying to fix it through legal methods.

I'm pro choice so I don't mind abortions but *** determination is an iffy subject. That's a great question - my answer is no, because of its effects on society. You could very easily argue that if I supported polygamy and if I support pro-choice because people ought to have the right to practice their beliefs, who am I to tell people that they can't choose the *** of their child? That's an excellent point (that I'm making for you, which I assume you would make), and I am not sure I have an answer to that. I'll have to think about that (and perhaps re-assess my position).
