Points Docked for Slow Over Rate

honestbharani

Whatever it takes!!!
England only being 2 overs short means it was a marginal decision. India seemed really slow too but it’s not hard to believe they were a few minutes faster after accounting for all the ball changes, injury timeouts, etc
And the fact that we had two spinners who get through their overs much faster.

You have no right to abuse me. Please behave yourself. I didnt swear at you and you have no reason to call me idiot.Reiffel did gave root not out when ball was hitting stumps and gave gill out caught when bat didn't touch the ball.
Three Indian batsmen were given not out by the Bangladeshi umpire on the first morning of the second Test despite the technology showing the ball would’ve hit the stumps. There is no conspiracy.

Sorry mate that wasn't at you. It was at another poster who swore at me. Yes i agree thats why i support taking away umpire call. If hitting stumps its out. As for points docking i read somewhere that winning team gets fined. Not sure will search again and get exact rule. If india would have won they would have been fined too. I hate bcci ****ers but don't think they would go out of their way to fine england. Its just wtc has **** format which icc seriously needs a look in

If that is the rule, I have to say it’s a **** one, be **** and lose the match and you don’t get punished, but win and you get points docked? Doesn’t make much sense to me!

The over rate was slow because of the breaks that were allowed by the umpires but the time taken by these breaks was subtracted from over rate calculations. In the end, England were ONLY two overs short and India none.
So only 2 of the 40 overs "lost" during the match resulted from actual slow play by the bowling teams, and the other 38 from permissible breaks.

If we're worried about slow play and loss of game time we should be looking more at speeding up or preventing some of these breaks in play happening.

That same umpire gave two more umpire's calls in favor of England when they batted. The problem is the fact that the Bangladeshi umpire was consistent. Reiffel was obviously not.

I mean yeah this is the obvious solution, so we know it won’t occur.

On the other hand, pacers can also choose to stop mincing about and bowl their overs faster. (Which many can but refuse to do so)

Your first post on this thread was to bemoan the bias of Paul Reiffel. I’m merely pointing out that India were the beneficiaries of some questionable umpiring decisions too. I reiterate my stance however that there is no conspiracy, just human beings making errors of judgement in the split second they’re asked to make them.

As for umpires call, I like that it’s there, it allows a margin for error when the technology itself cannot be perfect.

WTC points are a lot like gold stars for good behaviour in primary school. Whoever has the most gets to play a wee game of cricket at sports day while the grown ups pretend it’s a big deal to keep them happy.
Ha, yes, precisely. Certificates for winning egg and spoon races also spring to mind.

Paul Reiffel is defo biased against india. This is not first time he gave close call against us. If its human error and he does vs all teams then he shouldn't be in elite panel. Otherwise its pure bias vs one team. And also i agree in second test england got rough end of bangla umpire and i do feel sorry for them
