3rd Test (Lord’s) - 10 July to 14 July

If India bottle this(looks extremely likely), I really have to blame how the captain played in this innings. Looked like a tailender out there, missing full tosses. This guy gets rattled even if there is slight movement in the pitch. For someone that's coming off scoring near 450 runs in a single match, that was garbage batting.

They were speculating Gill will break Bradman's record for most runs in a series lol

That did used to be a rule between 1980 and 2017 but it was scrapped at that time for some reason. KL Rahul would have been keeping instead and I doubt Pope would have been out in the first innings.

Needs to be brought back IMO. I don't think sub fielders should even be allowed in close catching positions (slips, gully, bat pad).
The point of all this is these are the two dodgiest sides in world cricket. It's like Al Capone playing the Kray Brothers and we're sup[posed to work out who the honest brokers are. The answer, of course, is neither of them. But it's an Ashes year so India deserve support on this occasion.

Always against the bowler?

If video replay shows it missing by the breadth of a hair, and the umpire called it out lbw, does the umpires call of Out, stand?

The video tracking should be the authority, whichever way it says the ball was going to go. End of.
Umpires shouldn’t give a decision unless they are sure, how can they be sure if he projection shows that the ball would have missed the stumps?

i can respect this given this is exactly how i feel about aus and eng while supporting aus in the ashes

Whatever it takes!!!
India failed to chase similar totals under that leadership didn’t they?

2018 4th Test - lost by 60 runs chasing 245
2018 1st Test - lost by 31 runs chasing 194
S

We didn’t win a single game chasing in 2018 or 2021.
I meant in terms of the attitude of that side and how they played. Just feel that side would be a great matchup for this Bazball side.

Bullshit. Hawkeye captures all the camera visible information of how the ball travels until it strikes the batsman, and predicts the remaining path accordingly. It does so drastically more accurately and consistently than any human ump can. That inclues whatever variable bounce or wind effect on the ball, because Hawkeye literally sees it (and with a more holistic visual context incorporating 3 dimensions compared to single view of human).

That's the reason that we grade the umps compared to how often their answers correspond to Hawkeye and not the other way around.
I'm skeptical how Hawk Eye simulates variable bounce here. Does it run on a trained deep learning algorithm?

It’s cute how burgey takes breaks from glazing Smith (well compiled 5 from him btw) in the other thread to come in here and make snide remarks about a game where 3 ATGs are in action. Meanwhile across the North Alantic a Windies side with club level batsman has had The Cheats regularly soiling their undies over the last few weeks while staring down the barrel of a 3-0 moral whitewash.

We've been all over them.

Never in doubt!
