***Official*** Pakistan in West Indies 2017

High time Windies tried a reverse batting order.
Not sure Gabbers Gabriel and Joseph are ready to open. I do think though that the Windies bringing out the nightwatchman to protect Chase, Dowrich, Holder made sense as they have definitely shown some fight at 6-8.

Blackwood needs to come back IMO. Shai Hope just can't get going in Tests and needs a spell.

I think players that get out leaving their batting partner stranded on 99 should be made to run 1000 laps around the cricket field......

It's good that Misbah didn't get that 100 imo. Makes it more likely that, in the future, he will be appreciated most by those who actually watched him play and not stat mongers.

Given the former is grossly outnumbered by the latter under the best of circumstances, and a large part of his career went unseen by most cricket circles, this is not a good thing.

If West Indies start playing Holder as a batting allrounder, that can help their team combination, drop a useless batsman at the top, have Holder bat at 6 or 7 and play Cummins

With 2 wickets down, thought the Windies would've been relatively happy with 2nd inns bat but those two late wickets were a killer.

Put simply, there just isn't the talent in the West Indies batting lineup with ropey techniques and temperaments galore. As others above have mentioned, Holder looks a better batsmen than most of the top order.

And speaking of Holder, because of the nightwatchman he'll be coming in at 9 which is ridiculous.

Congrats to Yasir Shah for turning it round so well after his dismal Oz tour; he's even taking wickets round the wicket to left-handers now!

real talk though is nothing more misbah and reflective of his career than getting stranded on 99 after going in to the final wicket at only a meagre 68

Tbh I was surprised that it was only the 6th time in tests that someone's been stranded on 99. It's not something you'd expect to happen a lot, exactly, but I'd have thought it would have happened a few more times than 6.

There's also 2 instances of someone getting stranded on 199* and one of 299*.

Yes, one of the 199* was Azharuddin wasn't it? Who also played 99 Tests, though that was entirely of his own doing.

Bishoo outlasting the senior batsman this morning. Hard to see this going until tea.

Sanga got a 199* against Pakistan iirc. Who was the 299?
Sangakarra was indeed one of the 199*s, but the other was Andy Flower (who also scored 140-odd in the other innings). Azharuddin's top score was 199, but not unbeaten.

Yeah, the 299* was Bradman - I believe he ran out his partner.

Windies are so frustrating to watch. They've got one batsman, Darren Bravo, capable of doing things and they've not selected him because he's an idiot. Shambles.

A bit feeble from the West Indies here, tbh. Can't say I'm especially surprised, though, really.

Edit: This is Pakistan they're playing, of course, so the collapse starts now!

Stupid Rameez Raza said Pakistan will not change the opening combination if they win this but if it was a draw they could give it a thought.

lol

Well, if it was a draw, you certainly would be concerned about your openers' inability to score 32 in 71 overs.

It would really be the kicker if it rains now and this game ends in a draw. why on earth are the umpires so interested to go off anyway. Do the fat ****s not get their lunch free if the match is over or something.
