***Official*** England in New Zealand series 2013

Little bit of seam movement early on, and a bit of swing too. Not expecting much from Fulton here, if he can see off a dozen overs I will think of that as something of a success.

Ahh lost the toss, interesting to hear Botham thinks that's the series sealed.
Hmmm - Boycs isn't convinced at all about that on TMS. And unless we start to make some inroads then he may well be right. He's also saying that Finn should be on, and I reckon he's right about that as well. Not much point in him being in the side if we don't give him the new ball.

Can't watch at the moment so the usual questions; much in the pitch, bowlers bowling well?
Pitch is a little quicker than Dunedin and Wellington (not that that's saying much) without a a lot of sideways movement. Anderson and Broad have been okay without looking too threatening while Fulton's once again looks like a walking wicket. Early doors, but could well be a good toss to lose for NZ.

The radio commentators have said that Fulton looks pretty good. Apparently moving his feet with a lot more purpose, and is wafting far less outside the off-stump.

EDIT: as I say that, Fulton nicks one through the vacant 4th slip for 4.

Would appreciate a few more ones and twos. At this stage of his career, Rutherford seems pretty easy to stop up. Good to have an opening pair that can get through the opening 10 overs unscathed though.

Well this looks a good toss to have lost. Looks a decent track to bat on.
Sunshine too.

That said just because it's not a minefield doesn't mean it's a duff call. It probably won't make a difference in the long run which order you bat in on a surface that doesn't break up, and so bowling first is just a case of being aggressive with your fresh bowlers.

I think bowling first is probably the right call. Gives them the best possible chance of forcing a result if it turns out to be another England vs. the draw type match.
