Minnow bashes Wellington tbf.
While I hate to admit it, it's true. In his past 4 matches against Wellington, he's taken 34 wickets at 15.8. Take that out, and his average bloats out to 26, which is still pretty good tbf.

Tbf Murdoch, Papps, Brodie, Franklin, Woodcock etc are all decent first class batsmen.

I don't understand Wellington. They have one of the best squads around, but they're horrendous.

Three quality openers, ten million allrounders and seamers coming out of their ears. Now they have even found an Australian who is actually good.

Start winning ffs you ****s.

And this Ryder circus needs to stop. Are we going to report on him farting in the wrong direction on the flight over? A Wellington team-mate chips him in that manner, no wonder he has a go back. Stuff should start a precedent and report all matters like that in club cricket.
Makes Boam look a bit callous in that interaction. But he was probably brassed off at being hit for four.

Hey hey! Look at McKay and Kugglejuggle Jr. averaging high 30's for the season with zero 5fers over a combined 15 games pls. Franklin's decline is well-documented. Gillespie spluttered into life for two weeks in Feb and filled the truck with about 50% of our total points haul before being taken away. That's how important an in-form leader with the ball is to Wgtn, and a clear indictment on the rest.

Next season, apart from your lot if the near-inevitable has happened, there isn't one province that I wouldn't swap the leading three seamers with. I'd take Henry, Lonsdale and McCone/van Beek over Gillespie (off-chance he's available), McKay & _____. The others aren't even close.

Yeah a part of your problem is McKay, Gillespie and Kugglejuggle are all hit or miss bowlers, and if they all go missing then the innings is a write off.

McKay in the season before last had something like 31 wickets from 5 matches. He's always worth keeping around, and Kugglejuggle has a lot of raw assets. You need an O'Brien like bowler to provide some consistency I guess.

And a real spinner. (face)

And our bowlers will stay fit! You'll see.

Badenhorst is decent tbf. We just need to Jarvis it up and we'll be fine.

You wonder how NZC looks at these names just five weeks down the road, Tipene Friday and George Worker > Hamish Rutherford.
New Zealand cricket have put a lot of time and effort into Tipene Friday, iirc he was even part of the Emerging players team last year. For whatever reason though he can't seem to crack the Wellington team. Should think about moving I reckon.

He was a substitute fielder for the Black Caps at the Basin Reserve for the 3rd test too - so pretty unusual that Wellington didn't select him for a single match over the season.

Maybe because this sort of culture abounds - Question of loyalties behind Ryder-Boam fracas | Stuff.co.nz

Wouldn't happen in Auckland, you can be damn sure.

Then you've got Millmow writing filth, digging up crap and putting more pressure on them via the Dom Post. Plus they had a coach that stunk for 3-4 years.

He was 12th man for most of the season. But when Gillepsie was called up to the blackcaps he had an injury,

But then plenty of times Wellington played Boam/Franklin/Elliot as a sum-of-all-parts third seamer. Especially pre-xmas when sometimes Gillespie was injured or McKay was in Zimbo and when they were both back then Kuggeleijn was 12th man.

In the Feb/March part of Plunket Shield - Friday was 12th man but then he was injured at the wrong time, but then current Welly mgmt like to bat deep as Friday's replacement (Tugaga) was 12th man in the the last match when anyway ......

Unlike other Plunket Shield teams in recent years during the easy batting months of Feb/March - which have been prepared to have their keeper at 5 if they are good enough (Hopkins, Young, Van Wyk etc) and then plenty of bowling including a few all rounders. This has probably been a product of excellent batting decks of the last few years requiring fewer specialist bats, allowing 2 spinner options, and 4 seamers. I guess Wellington's balance is reasonably similar except all 4 of their allrounders are batting allrounders.

I realise that this is entirely the wrong thread for this, but assume it will get swallowed up in the County Cricket thread.

I was wondering if the kiwis with county contracts had started already so looked at the scorecards of Glouc and Derbyshire.

There was no Kane Williamson for Glouoc, is he taking a break?

BTW, Guptill got a century for Derbyshire in their victory in a fairly low scoring match, and Jamie Fuller was playing for Glouc and had decent returns in their single bowl. I had a look at his overall record - and it looks like he has had a decent start to his limited overs career last season but has not played many FC games and not got decent returns (yet) in those games.
